I had something very similar happen to me once. Unfortunately it was a lot farther of a drop down than this one so I didn’t see the family until after it was way to late. I ended up bailing off in mid air and luckily the bike went to the side enough to hit a tree and not bounce or roll through the family. Then I absolutely ate shit right in front of a whole family who didn’t say sorry or try to offer any kind of help or anything they just looked at me like I was stupid, ignoring the fact they were literally right beneath a wooden drop feature on a mtb trail. Edit: Also I understand that a lot of trails are shared but the one I was on was mtb only, as it obviously was a jump/drop line. The trail this guy is on also looks a lot more like a mtb trail look than shared trail because of all the small jumps and that drop.

I hope you yelled at them and told them all the swears you know. This happened to me once me and my friend told them to get the f*ck off. I now think you should’ve actually hit them. Also happened to me once that I smashed my handlebar into a child’s head because of this ( it was a jump and because the child was so small I couldn’t see him at all). I felt bad because it was a 5 year old (at least it wasn’t that big of a jump and not that fast), but I was really mad at their parents for literally being near but not moving the child of the trail a bit. People are dumb.

Who tf is stupid enough to see a jump trail with a huge friggin wood drop and think “oh that’s a good hiking spot!”. Hikers, you guys have enough places to walk, please stay off our jump lines, I see this at one of my local riding spots too (Pacifica), which clearly is a spot just for mountain biking.
