Almost lost a board to the ocean

After a simple fall near shore, my Zap Fuse was caught by the back wash and taken out into the water. I had to wait over a minute for the set to finish before I could attempt to swim out and collect the board.
Why I went for the board: I knew the tide was still coming in so if I made it to the board the waves would push me back to shore. If the tide had been going out, I would have let the board go and counted it as a total loss.
