To be fair, we do not know the details of Kenny's deal with Belcher. He may have asked for the gig for work continuity. Jason's mom is ill and Jason may have to leave again, such is the reality of health crisis. So there may be more factors involved. Both are top players. Belcher is a money dude. Music is a side thing it seems for him, but keeps the "visibility" of his brand up.

A player like Paul Gilbert could do all that Van Halen stuff 10 times better then Wolfgang & Satraini combined, as could a player like John 5, & all the nine year old girls that can play all the EVH gimmicks note for note along with any number of internet Van Halen fans, among the litany of noteworthy big name out of work guitarists. At this point Dave & Alex are too washed up, Sammy isn’t who the old fans want to see & Wolfgang will soon be the size of Jelly Roll. Micheal Anthony is the only player who can legitimately hold up the Van Halen flag, yet his reputation has been totally tarnished & drug all through the mud. It appears that Van Halen has finally reached its bitter conclusion, after they should have disbanded back in 1984. & So now it’s all over but for the hologram Van Halen tribute tour, with Kiss? Best case scenario is that they trot out a revolving cast of musicians to butcher Van Halen songs like they do for Jimi Hendrix Experience tribute shows, before the bulk of nostalgic Van Halen fans age out…🤔

Jason wants to keep the access to free trips to Cabo San Lucas open. He was doing a bunch of tours with Heart so I’m sure when they tour next year for the 50th, he’ll be the support act. I think Wolf is going to do what Dweezil Zappa did, work on more of his own stuff for a while, maybe another 10-15 years, then pivot and do Van Halen note for note.

I don't think a hired hand should ever take a leave of absence from a band since the replacement can take the spot. James Kottak was replaced by Mickey Dee in Scorps. I think it would have made more financial sense to keep Van Halen going but dealing with both Dave and Alex is difficult. It would also be tough to be constantly reminded of his late father death while playing the VH songs.

I've said before that I DO like some Hagar songs in Van Halen. Not many, but a few. I grew up on it with my mother playing it a lot. I even like some of Hagar's solo stuff from early on. I fell for Hagar's nice guy act, but not any more. The dude has showed what an selfish, backstabbing piece of shit he can be over these last few years, and that he's a total phony. Eddie and Alex figured out the real Sammy Hagar in 1995.

Poor Jason, he misses out on 2 concerts. Sammy is what he is, but Bonham is a boring, plodding drummer. If I had a choice between him and Arnoff I am taking Kenny all day and night long. Watched some of the footage of the recent shows with Jason then watched Kenny. Jason was making the Van Hagar songs suck worse then ever, Kenny played them almost perfect.
