I was there yesterday. I was blown away by the dining room especially. I walked around it and took it all in for quite a while. The room feels quite vast when you're in there, and the colour and decorations are breathtaking. Absolutely stunning. Leaves you with a special feeling.

This was very well done, thank you! It lifts my heart to know that this estate has been in one family for 700 years and is still the family home! It is a credit to them that they have not only managed to retain ownership but have maintained it so well.

What an absolute pleasure & privilege to be able to enjoy this magnificent tour on line. So very grateful to Alnwick Castle, Mr. Daniel Watkins & the Percy family for this. Truly, a treat.

I was directed here to see this video after watching Downton Abby S5 E9 where it was featured. I wish this video showed more of the inside of the castle.

My wife and I came for a visit last Fall. As a Percy, I’ve grown up intrigued about the family history and Alnwick Castle. We found the Castle to be quite fascinating but the Gardens and the town of Alnwick were equally charming! There are historical landmarks all throughout and the people and establishments are very pleasant! It may be all in my head but in many ways I sure felt at home…

Thanks for this interesting video. I was born and brought up in Alnwick and went to Brownies in the old Guest Hall in the castle as well as going there for the Duchess's Girls Grammar School speech day every year so it brought back lots of memories, especially of playing in the outer bailey and going down into the dungeon! . My great grandfather was a coach builder and he did an early restoration of the coach in the late 1800s. Now the castle shop sells my full colour book Harry Hotspur - Border Knight, a short biography of the character immortalised by Shakespeare (he got it all wrong).

Its always amazing to see a castle not destroyed by Cromwell, or deconstructed by the local townsfolk for use in their buildings.

There is a small lift next to the China corridor. The staff here are wonderful and mobility scooters are available for use in both the Castle and also for the Gardens. The Castle and Gardens get 5 Stars from me.

9:47 well, it was much later that dungeons were in lower levels. They were often in one of the highest rooms in the Don Jon because it makes it more difficult to escape.

Exactly... The great hall, dungeons, grounds, and towers had all been used in the films. As a matter of fact the castle actually housed the production staff and engineers while filming was done there.

I saw this just because this was the castle in the first 2 Harry Potter movies...

This history is brutal and gruesome. To think Harry Potter was filmed there.. is insanity.

Think of that as the place's redemption. It is incredible this castle is still being used for important functions today, just like the Great Wall of China is still a PLA training and air defense outpost.
