Ali Akbar Shapour-zaman, affectionately known as 'Aloba,' lived a life of exceptional spiritual privilege. From his early days in Meher Baba's Meher Ashram to his role as a devoted companion during the New Life phase and as one of the select resident mandali until the end, Aloba's journey was truly unique. Meher Baba affectionately referred to him as Electricity, The General, and Snake-killer, capturing the essence of his remarkable personality.
Aloba's unwavering devotion to Meher Baba was awe-inspiring. He dedicated his life to Baba's teachings, meditating on His divine existence, and sharing vivid dreams of their connection. Aloba's boundless commitment to fulfilling Baba's wishes was infectious, and his storytelling, with dramatic flair, revolved around the impact of Baba's presence in his life and others.
As a native of Persia, Aloba brought the spirit of his homeland to Baba's circle, notably through his mastery of Persian poetry, particularly Hafiz's works, Baba's beloved poet. A simple gesture from him would bring forth mesmerizing Persian ghazals. Aloba's legacy lives on as a beacon of devotion and love for Meher Baba, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
