Amazing gardening hack that really works. I'll be helping my English ivy cuttings along with aloe vera slime and starting in water indoors. I remember something about needing to avoid the tiny veins around the inner skin of the leaf but good to know this still works😊

I live in az... I repotted one big plant that "fell off the back of a truck". No really, i didnt steal it. It was in a parking lot, in a broken planterwith a few pups. She had thrown out 1 or 2 pups. I decided to put those in the ground and all of them are throwing pups like mad! I'm pretty not-mad about it. I can make many things with all of these plants. I just found out you can use it as a natural dye, too. Aloe is my spirit plant.😊

you will get to see it flower some day also! very cool story lol they are useful hardy plants, I'm interested in the dying aspect, ill have to do some research thank you of that idea!

Wonderful explanation of WHY aloe Vera works Will be doing a cutting from my Turkish fig and dip into rooting hormone then into a cut aloe Vera section and planted - covered -- I think by golly this time we will have success
@Crazyclay78YT23 күн бұрын
i'd heard about this method, and i remembered my mom had an aloe vera moisturizing/sunburn gel for your face, and i figured out that its about 80% pure aloe, with most of the other stuff being like chrysanthemum and some other flowers extracts, and only a couple complex chemical names, so i figured it was good. I had topped my ghost peppers since im dealing with aphids and i cut right below the node that the branch splits into 2, and had a few little side shoots too, and theyre still green and seem to be doing fine. most of the leaves fell off, but ive seen in these videos theres only a few leaves anyway so im not worried. i havent gotten any ghost peppers all year because at the beginning of the season they were stunted by an ant attack, so we hung them from the trees, and then it was growing good, then the aphids moved in and started fucking it up again, so i was just like "alright i might as well try it cause i was gonna throw it out anyways"

I'll have to have a go at it. I'm frequently taking a cutting. Good information. I have a Dudleya pulverulenta and have been researching if I can remove the top, root it, and get growth from the cut stem.

Is there any plants that I shouldn't use aloe vera for this? I'm planting some natives. Thanks for the info. I'm pumped to give it a go!
@Earthdwellershomestead4 ай бұрын
Honestly I’ve used it for everything I’ve propagated. Softwood, hardwood, and everything in between. I’ve not found anything it doesn’t aid in development. I’m sure there is something out there that won’t like it but we haven’t came across that plant yet lol. Good question!

Very interesting!! Can not wait to try the aloe vera. What temperature do the cuttings prefer to let the roots grow?
@Earthdwellershomestead Жыл бұрын
Room temp is ideal or a little on the cool side. I’d say 60-75f

Another grower posted a video in which he embedded the root directly into the aloe stalk and buried the stalk in the dirt with the cutting stuck in it. Which is better, dipping or burying the entire piece of aloe?
@Earthdwellershomestead Жыл бұрын
I guess it doesn’t matter..lol.. I’m not sure how much better or worse that could be. I would make it as minimal of a piece, just enough to envelope the cutting possibly. It’s a great alternate to chemically rooting for sure I may have to try a few pieces this way for my own knowledge

If i apply some aloe vera on my mango seed, would it help seed not get moldy before germinating?
@Earthdwellershomestead3 ай бұрын
That’s actually something I didn’t mention and that’s a great question. For seeds like that it can and should work to aid in germination!

Can I use aloe Vera for hardwood fig tree cuttings as well
@Earthdwellershomestead Жыл бұрын
We do! It works great for keeping the pathogens from rotting the cutting before it can root. Great question!

I like it a lot my man. I just teied it on marijuana seedlings cutting. Have you tried it?. Can we preserve the gel? How long. Can we make a mixture with cinnamon maybe it will be more effective
@Earthdwellershomestead9 ай бұрын
thanks for the questions and interest! ive cloned many plants in my day lol..I do save the gel once in a while in the fridge, plastic bag or a glass jar with a lid work. there are many different varieties of aloe, they all do the job and some will store better than others. edible aloe contains no latex compound, you'll know if your aloe has latex as if it sits exposed to oxygen it will form a yellow slime. we try to one time use the latex containing aloe as it separates out during storage

I know there is different types of Aloe Vera. Do you use the plant with the white dots or the plain green plant? Or does it matter? Have you found a plant that this doesn't work on as a rooting hormone? Very interested in this concept as I grow aloe vera as a wound salve.
@Earthdwellershomestead2 жыл бұрын
We use the plain green common aloe. I know there about 300 varieties but only a handful that are useful or Medicinal. This works great for all plants I’ve found, as it protects against pathogens and bacteria that inhibit root development and feed on the cutting. We use it for healing also, we use our St. John’s wort for our healing salves but aloe is great for quick use raw. Thanks for the questions and watching!

Hi , I want to propagate geraniums and I want to leave the cut in the aloe vera cut rings, then plant them in the soil with the aloe vera under soil. Do you think it is going to root faster my geraniums? Thank you for the video.

(Liked) You said ask.. How did you end up with a Mum in July with all those little root sprouts? Did the plant get exposed to cold? Where is the big parent plant? I want to make a mum put out babes like that.. 😊
@Earthdwellershomestead5 ай бұрын
This was from a perennial variety that survived the greenhouse over winter, in dormancy but we took lots of cutting from our mum, it works well with them as they fleshy skin like tomatoes or basil that have undifferentiated cells in the skin, great question!

Is the spotted aloe vera edible and does it haveany medicinal value
@Earthdwellershomestead Жыл бұрын
this aloe has the yellow latex that has to be removed before use, we can use it for plants right away, and we put it on burns. the edible aloe is all green I believe and has orange flowers while the non edible has yellow flowers and spotted skin
