Great video! If you wanna root a leaf, you must let the wound heal and then plant it. Otherwise it will rot and not grow any roots.

I had a aloe vera plant years ago that was about 5 years old. It was huge, 3' tall or so. I now have a new aloe plant that is growing fast. I left the old plant out one winter night and it froze. My mother, now passed, loved it when I would visit and massage her hands using a cutting off a aloe vera plant. She said "I have new hands". I miss her so. Lord be with you.

I have grown Aloe from cutting many times and actually is my preferred method. To do this what you want to do is take a cutting of a larger blade at least 2in, then you want to sit the cutting out in the sun for a few days to let cut edge dry out and heal. I place them on a window ledge with the cut part facing the sunlight. When it is dry and not dripping aloe gel any more, plant the cutting into your pot cut side down with the succulent soil mix. And about an inch or so deep. Pack the soil around it so it stays upright and firm. I also usually dip the cutting in some commercial rooting powder as well. Then water it once deeply as per usual. But, then place the pot with the cutting away from any direct sunlight let the cutting sit in a shady indirect sunlight inside for a while (sometimes up to a few months) and water sparsely even less than a mature Aloe. I also use super thrive when i water it as well. Then once a new propagation of aloe leaves starts to sprout up from the cutting slowly reintroduce it to direct and more hours of sunlight. Basically kinda treat it like a seed. Doesn’t need much sun or water as it has everything it needs in the leaf already, just warmth and some water. If the cutting gets a lot direct sunlight it can get sunburn and damaged as it is fragile.

I learned from another gardener to allow the cut leaf to develop a "thin" film or just closure to the end of the cut. It takes a couple of days, when the ends is closed, you can plant it in damp soil and it should grow roots. Currently trying it for myself

Nice video, thank you. I had seen Aloe propagation in another video. Once you cute the leaf off, you must let it set for a day or two, allowing for the aloe to seal off the cut end with it own healing. After the cut is sealed, you can plant as normal. That is the best I can remember.

Yes brother...you can grow it from a single leaf.the white part on it's end must be present in the leaf u r going to plant.Keep it in sunlight for one day and in shade for another day and plant it in a slanting position.water it when required and after 120 days a new set of aloevera would arise.hope you will try it.

If a leaf gets knocked off or falls off my aloe, it just starts growing a new plant. I don't have to bury it in dirt just let it lie on top of the soil. If I see it has rooted, I will plant the leaf. Many times when I've been thinning my pots and dropped one on the ground it just starts to grow on top of the dirt. Aloes are best when ignored.

I feel I've ignored my Aloe Vera a lot, it once had flowered too, last year it would always go side ways. And yes my Aloe Vera has given rise to many baby plants, I've uprooted the healthy looking one's and given to many people including my younger brother, my sister-in-law, my neighbour who's a gardener himself, they love my Aloe Vera for its fresh colour and thick fleshy leaves. I just hate the smell of the Aloe Vera juice when taken out, hence I've never tried it for any medicinal purpose, but I've tried the juice as rooting hormone and it's done wonders, helping me replant so many other plants in my little garden. After seeing your video I feel I must respect my Aloe Vera more

I have an Aloe Vera plant that got a little bit of root rot and turned yellow from the bottom up. I unpotted it and cleaned the roots and repotted it. I was so surprised when it got green again! A few days later I saw my cat knock it over. So I put the plant back in the pot and moved to a very sunny window and it started turning yellowish brown again. This time I moved it away from the window and found another place away from the cat. I took it out of the pot, checked the Roots and repotted it. I didn't water it because wanted to give it a rest. Today its green again. Through these problems I have learned not to overwater, don't put it in the cat's window, and don't bake it. Do you think it will live?

Ive hear that to grow new aloe vera from a leaf, you must let the tip that was broken off or cut off main plant, completely dry out. Once that tip is sealed and dry, put it in your succulent potting mixture. I have not tried this yet as its too cold to do this yet. I will be trying this method mid spring.

I’ve seen some other people cut the aloe plant about 2 inches long But you need to let the ends dry out for like a couple of days and then you put it in the soil or on the soil and don’t water it for like a week and then spray it moist in the soil after about seven days that might work for you

I have grown an aloe vera plant from leaf. But I noticed you used a leaf that had the top and bottom cut. They say it has to only be cut from the bottom. That's what I do. I cut in an angle with disinfected cutters and let the area where it's cut get calloused (meaning dry) then repot it. I hope this was helpful cause your info was tremendously informative!!!

I used to work in a place where we had to wear the previous officers stab proof vest. Well after months of the vest being soaked in sweat and never drying, I got an infection on my chest. I went to the doctor and he gave me meds that helped but would never kill the infection. The doctor said it was a fungal growth in my skin and in my blood stream and that I would have to learn to live with it. One night I put Aloe Vera jell on it. It got much better but if I forgot to do it, it would come right back. So I went to the drug store and bought 1 gallon of Aloe Vera jell juice and began to drink it. The fungal infection went away. After about 2 weeks of drinking it the fungal infection went away. I stopped and it came back. I drank it for a couple months and now it is completely gone and my skin is so so smooth with no inflammation spots. Lord be with you.
