Thank you so much for your video. I have plants in all these varieties and love them, theyre so easy to take care of and lessen the stress of the other more fussy plants that I struggle with.

Thanks for all these videos - the quality of info and they way you pace yourself is perfect for the way my brain learns. When you say an "occasional overwatering" ... okay, I guess the best way to ask the question is to ask if this strategy is right: 1.have soil that drains rapidly and thoroughly with lots of pumice, orchid bark, activated charcoal, coir 2. when you DO water, water until all the soil is thoroughly drench but, because of #1, all this drains out within 5 or 10 minutes, so there's no chance for root rot 3. then don't water AGAIN until (depending on the type of plant) it's quite dry, unless it's a finicky one like calathea, in which case, until it's still slightly moist. If that's correct, then "overwatering" isn't giving it too much water when you water, but watering it too often. What have I got wrong? Thanks!

I can't keep peace lilies alive to save my life 🤣 I've had so many and they all slowly die despite more water, less water, repotting etc... I get a bit hostile when I sit in a waiting room with one that's blooming and all happy looking! I'm at a point in my plant life where I've decided that it must be BC I buy them from big box stores BC I'm not willing to put out a big amount on them... But we all know deep down that they likely came from the same place 😭

My arrowhead is on the floor a few feet from a lamp and while it's slightly leggy it's because it's about ten years old and really should be groomed and tidied up. I've no clue what it is but once in awhile it tosses out a yellow leaf that quickly dies off 🤷🏼‍♀️ it may be my least fussy as it generally gets the water the other plants don't want or is completely forgotten about 😬 but it's always putting out new leaves so it is not hating life... I keep saying I am going to fix her up and put effort into her to get her looking good again but so far that hasn't happened.

I find the MOSTLY green Aglaonema very easy, while the very colorful ones, I find a bit more demanding. Syngoniums are super easy, and I love growing them in passive hydro. Epipremnum/Pothos are THE easiest. My favorite, at the moment, is Manjula. I've found Neon Pothos to be prone to root rot, and the N'Joy and Pearls and Jade, seem to be slow growers when compared to the common golden type. Still, I'd rate the whole genus #1 as far as adaptability goes. Vining Philodendron are great, but I need to make sure they receive sufficient light or they'll get lanky and disheveled. My favorites are Micans, Silver Stripe, and Lemon-Lime.

I wish I could keep Chinese Evergreens alive. They seem to do great for almost two years, and then they just start failing until they're dead. I've killed two so far. I'm trying something different with my only one left. I put it in a much brighter (SE window) spot. It looks like it's really enjoying that. Fingers crossed!

I just want to state for the record that I do not find the peace lily easy at all. LOL I keep very rare plants from all over the world and have kept plants for 40 years and the peace lily is my nemesis! They need to rename it the civil war lily!!!!! hehe

I don't understand how someone could make a video about unfussy houseplants and not mention aspidistra. I left like 4 out on my patio for a few years. I never watered them and they were subjected to sub freezing temperatures and rapacious slugs. Not one of them died. These days my house is full of aspidistras because I have to keep splitting them and I've literally never killed one. Their absence from lists like this is totally baffling to me.

My peace lilies thrive in a sunny spot and are given plenty of watering. They take long to establish in the soil , could be months, but once they are established they grow in great bushes. Flowering fertiliser helps them bloom and they look gorgeous! In my case, they are unfussy. Just need lots of patience.

Great video! I don't currently own any of these plants except for the Golden Pothos, and the Marble Queen Pothos. Now, having said that, I am going to rectify that situation as soon as the weather warms up and I can resume ordering from Hirts! I am in the market for 3 plants to put in a 'stand' in my office that is about 8 to, maybe 9 feet away from a north facing window. I also have an east facing window in that room so that will increase the light. Thank you so much! :)

The absolute bane of my life! My little dwarf Syngonium Pixie, may she rest in peace, was a nightmare. My Syngonium Pink Allusion seems to be doing fine but very shy when it comes to unfurling her leaves, which feel like damp paper🫤 Sadly I think my career as a Syngonium plant mum is going to be a short one. Thank the lord for all the varieties of Pothos and Philodendrums which make me feel very proud and happy😂

All but peace lily and the philodendrons u showed I've found to be truly easy, too. Finally gave up on my peace lily and gave it away, and have killed cuttings of both micans and heart leaf so not planning on buying the rooted versions. Love my Birkin and goledii though! Both are super easy and joyful looking.

I shouldn’t watch your videos. Hahaha. Every time I do I want to go buy more plants. I’m new at this even though I’ve lived 3/4 of a century. I’ve never had many plants because none have ever lived long. It was my fault, mostly cuz I didn’t know how to care for them. Now I have quite a few. All of the ones you mentioned in this video……(because they were marketed as low light plants…which my house is). I finally put the peace Lily on a self watering system and the leaves are beautiful. The flowers (which there are 8), however, are green. How do I rectify that? Thanks. (Sorry I keep asking questions so often but you are so knowledgeable and the only person I think has the answers to my questions). 🪴
@AlohaPlantLife
@AlohaPlantLife Жыл бұрын
I’m honestly not certain what would cause the flowers to be green unless maybe it wants more light or is needing something else from a fertilization standpoint. Those are my best guesses.

@@AlohaPlantLife . Well. The foliage is beautiful. I’ve repotted a few plants in the mixes you suggested and they are doing wonderful. The maranta is very happy. And so are the aloe plants. I decided to wait on the spider plant but I’m going to add coco coir just because I have to do something different since I’ve never been able to keep one alive. I have several babies from a friend and I potted each one with a different mix you showed.. just added something extra to your basic. In a month I should see which is the one they like but I’ll wait till spring to do the big plant….I think. Lol.
