I think an item everyone forgets is insane on Mundo is Steraks. That low health shield lets you heal to full with your ult while taking no damage, and it scales with HP.

Just hit Diamond with Urgot. When you shove in, walk with your jungler if he's top or gank mid. Take TP if you want macro and use it to rotate, if you're ahead always split away from whatever objective is up. Split bot when Baron is up, be top when Drake is up.

@Primimimimimimimi true, but honestly no champs kit alone is going to carry anyone to diamond without higher decision-making following it. I have over 1m mastery with him, but the urgot-specific advice I can give is fairly limited. I'll try anyway: •At level 9 (when you should have your W maxed), you want to weave your autos in with your W for max damage output. If you don't take the attack speed quint, it'll go like this: Auto attack first (AA), have your W attack 3 times (W), then auto attack again. If you take the attack speed quint, you can weave your auto attack in after only 2 W's. Try it on turrets to get the hang of it before doing it on champions. Then get used to doing it in 1v1s before doing it in teamfights. Without AS quint: AA, W, W, W, AA, repeat. With AS quint: AA, W, W, AA, repeat. •Take Fleet Footwork next to always. It's so good. •Always start with Dorans Blade (except for edge cases like teemo, darius, or champs with dot), on first back buy cull. With Fleet, this gives you crazy sustain by level 9. •When/if you buy Hullbreaker, W the turret till Hullbreaker is at 4 stacks (you'll see the icon), then auto the turret. You'll maximize damage this way, and it's the fastest way to knock down turrets. •You HAVE to itemize well on Urgot to succeed, Urgot's only true item he wants to buy every game is Black Cleaver, maybe hullbreaker. Build wisely, decide if your team needs you to deal damage this game, or if being tankier will be more helpful for your team. If you're fighting champs like Vayne, Yi, other tank-shredders, feel free to build damage and try to turn them into smears on the jungle floor rather than spending 9k in resistances to live two seconds longer. •Learn to Flash E and CC buffer consistently. It is a mandatory skill. Hope these help. 👍

"One of the worst early games". I find this idea interesting. I'd imagine if you can land a few free cleavers it can totally change the lane state. So, I wonder if it's a "top player perspective" where the skillshot is assumed dodged. I saw something similar in Alois's Singed in low rank opinion. Stuff that relies on *opponent* mistakes seems ignored in value for low rank. Despite low rank being far more likely to make such errors. I end up agreeing with Alois's take, but more from a perspective of "enemies will stop eating cleavers/stop chasing singed" at some point in the climb. So relying on it doesn't help you improve past that cut off. I'm commenting more due to phrasing differences since the conclusion arrives around the same place.

Mundo has an objectively weak early game: he gets bullied by most of the toplane roster and requires a substantial hp advantage to win all-ins. This is true regardless of whether his opponent lets him hit multiple cleavers. Any champion can look strong if their opponent makes enough mistakes, I’ve killed people as pre-6 Nasus because they underestimated the power of minions. Furthermore, it’s not just a matter of low mmr opponents not being able to dodge skillshots that makes Mundo perform well there, it is also the fact that they make dozens of other mistakes (and matches are longer) that makes Mundo’s weak early game less of a factor than in higher elos. Take the game vs Trundle, despite having a monumentally stronger level 1 he doesn’t zone Alois level 1 and even lets him cs casters WITH AUTOS. Mundo should be forced to cleaver farm in most matchups, which leads to opponents having at minimum a lead in cs. If this doesn’t happen, Mundo is able to come online much sooner than he should be assuming both players are playing properly (or closer to it).

I think Alois is objectively saying he is a weak early game champ, similar to for example nasus being weak early. On the other hand there are strong early game champs. This is just objectively true not relying on things. For example Pantheon is very strong early game with a 4second Q cooldown and strong damage and gapclose. Renekton Darius these are very strong early game and need to play dominant if you want to get your champion alive. Mundo on the other hand (like Nasus) needs to wait to get his health scaling. Kayle is another example of a worst early game champ, lvl1-6 is so shit, but lvl 16 good luck playing against him.

In low elo people don't know they have to actively destroy mundo early and even if they know it they don't know how to do it, so this enables him to become relevant and scale in the game, while in high elo he will only pick it as a number 10 while he knows the whole enemy team composition, otherwise enemy top picks Vayne and he hangs himself after 15 minutes of playing

On games where I will be split pushing a lot I like to build heartsteel-> titanic hydra-> dead man's for the wave clear and movement. With the move speed from ghost + ult + dead mans you are going to be faster than anyone else and you can run away safely most of the time even if literally 5 of them try to jump you.

Actually what I personally believe. Since you're so weak early that any 1v1 is basically a guaranteed loss. People do not die early a lot with Mundo so that leads to higher win rate because they plkay safe but also scale well later, not many characters can do this, you wither play super safe but fall behind in farm or you snowball. Mundo can't snowball well but he can both play safe while farming well with cleaver and e while outscaling his oponent if at equal gold. So this is his power basically.

Let me preface this with saying I know I'm not good. What do you call it when you will 50/50 an entire lane phase at lvl 3 because you have good hands and think you can win every fight? Is that an ego player? And if so, how do I stop doing it? I feel like when I'm not playing with an "ego" it's because I had a rough day at work or I'm not feeling confident and that results in too much passive play vs when I'm feeling confident I will throw an entire game for one cannon minion and to try and fight the enemy top laner then be flabbergasted that they beat me when I know if I just played a tad smarter I would win the long con. Is this maybe because I feel like if I don't carry then no one will in low elo? Appreciate the insight from anyone that comments
