Alok Vaid-Menon (they/them) is an internationally acclaimed performance artist whose work explores themes of trauma, belonging, and the human condition.
In 2021 they headlined the New York Comedy Festival , they recently be headlined the Just for Laughs Festival in Vancouver, had a sold out run at the Soho Theatre in London in July and are performing a spectacular run currently at Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival. (just a few tickets left for that!)
Their book Beyond the Gender Binary is a Lighthouse staple and a bookseller favourite that has been described as a “clarion call for a new approach to gender in the 21st century”. They are also author of two poetry books Femme in Public (2017) and Your Wound / My Garden (2021).
On screen, they will next shoot the Netflix/Blumhouse feature film ABSOLUTE DOMINION. They have also appeared in the Netflix docu-series Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness, HBO’s late-night sketch series Random Acts of Flyness and the documentary The Trans List.
Jess Brough is a writer, a psycholinguistics PhD student at the University of Edinburgh and the founder of Fringe of Colour - an Edinburgh-based multi-award-winning arts initiative for Black people and People of Colour. Jess has written for gal-dem and The Skinny, and has been published with an essay in The Bi-Bible: New Testimonials and a short story in Scottish literary magazine Extra Teeth and The Best of British Fantasy 2019 anthology.
