ALONE IN THE ALLAGASH | Overnight Camping Trip with My Dog

Remote wilderness canoe camping trip with my dog. Gracie and I hiked in to a remote (walk-in access only) pond in the North Maine Woods. Hafey Pond supports a wild brook trout population. Although there were trout surfacing for flies, I did not catch one for dinner and went to sleep hungry.

I just recently learned Gracey was attacked by a bear?? I'm so sorry she had to endure that. I've been following pretty regularly and missed it some how. Usually, my encounters with bears ends up with them running for cover, not attacking. So sorry she was hurt. She is so sweet and gentle! We love her!

Another good one, I’m new to Maine but have canoed here a lot. I spent some time exploring the North Maine Woods last fall, nice but I’m not a fan of those group campsites, need to explore more. Poland Pond was nice.

I don't have one there personally, the ones that are there are privately owned but are not locked so the implication is that they can be borrowed, this is a general principle, lots of these little backwoods ponds of canoes stashed, often they are locked to trees.
