Honestly, I don't much care about the Oscar controversy (stupid awards, anyway) or whether this movie is worth watching. I just have the greatest admiration for the courage, spirit, strength, and grace of Joni E. Tada. That she can even sing after her body has been under such difficulties for so long is amazing. I have prayed for her to be healed, and I would love to see her walk before she goes to glory. Thanks, Joni. And Christians, please stop responding to haters/trolls/unkind folks with unkind remarks. Amen x1000! I'm so sorry to hear of your deep loss. You are correct though, no matter what happens, Christians are never alone, we can't even die alone. It doesn't matter how alone we feel, God is so faithful to never leave us alone. Since purchasing and watching this movie, years ago, that Biblical hymn, "Alone, Yet Not Alone," has carried me for many years. The Biblical theme of this movie and this hymn are so amazingly powerful. I came to listen to this song again, this Christmas day, as now, more than ever, it encourages me, still. Years ago, I was run off by my husband of 25 years, and he groomed and found a replacement, then divorced me the other [divorced] woman. Our entire marriage was abusive and torturous. Then, 1.5 years ago, our beautiful 25-year-old son died in a terrible accident. He and I lived together for his entire life, and he helped to support me, since I receive no support from my ex-husband, whom I was totally dependant upon for most of our marriage. My son was pretty much all I had, as far as friends and family go. I have other family but they have their problems and don't have much to do with me, I do pray for them still. Years ago, my son and I fled back to my home state, to the other side of the country, and in those several years, I've not been able to find but 2 Bible teaching churches, but he people leading them are very dark and deceptive. So I've had no church family for 10 years now. I've been following Pastor John MacArthur's church's livestream [lgracechurch .org] every Sunday morning and evening. It's wonderful to know that I'm praising and worshiping God in the same way at the same time as so many people throughout the entire country and the entire world, who are also tuned in to the livestream. I am old enough to know Joni's story she has been a spirit warrior for quite a long time...fighting and winning battles with God's help that most people with healthy bodies could not do. If you only knew how deeply moved I was by this entire video! I am a Christian talk show host, who is now in the middle of producing a Christian documentary. Until 2 months ago I didn't even know how to make videos, but somehow God has supernaturally taught me what I need to know in order to keep doing the work He has placed before me. Oh my!!! I have followed and loved Joni's ministry for a long time! My road has been long and at times hard, yet never have I experienced what Joni and Ken have been thru. As I listened and watched this, great tears welled up and ran down my cheeks. Starting in May of '13, I have had 5 foot surgeries, two new hips, a new shoulder and lost my gall bladder. In '04, I had a heart attack and a 4-way bypass done. In '86, I blew my back apart on the job, and resulting 6 1/2 hour surgery on 2/5/97 by two ortho surgeons. I do not know not having pain. The bottom line, as Joni says, is, He will never leave me nor forsake me. The mightiest blow was in 2010 when my wife left me on three days notice, having been married 48 years, three girls and two grandkids. Sin (satan) is very real, and he combs the earth seeking to destroy all. And the easiest point to be made is this..."BUT GOD!". He is my strength, fortress and my Kinsman Redeemer. At the Cross of Calvary, His blood washed us all clean. We must do only one thing...reach out and grab the Hand He is extending to us! Isaiah 45:22, the Lord God says it quite simply..."I am God and there is no other"! I shall go each day of my 75th year praising Him Who gave me life eternal! Ken Skeen

The life of a quadriplegic can sometimes be very rough, especially you sit in a wheelchair, get turned in bed, do certain routines. I learned a lot of things from the quadriplegic I cared for. i have always adored Joni's music, along with her radio broadcast. this is truly beautiful. i have not heard of the movie or the song before.... gave up TV in the 90s, so maybe i'm out of touch with the world, but it is typical of this world to reject anything that glorifies the Lord, yet He will have His way... so rejoice, and fear not, brothers and sisters in Christ... much love to you.

I saw the story about this song and how it beat out all those other top songs for the Oscar nomination and couldn't believe it. I had heard her sing in the past and thought that she was just ok and quite plain. This song she sings is fantastically beautiful. The lyrics, her style, her tone, and technique are absolutely beautiful. Someone else with more talent could have sang this but her voice and spirit is a total fit for the power behind this song. It is absolutely gripping to listen to as well.

To quote from Bill Frazier below, this is absolutely incredible: "Joni Eareckson Tada is a Quadriplegic and her husband helped her to hit the 'high' notes by pushing on her diaphragm during the recording of the song, to give her enough breath." It was nominated. then, unfortunately, the Academy rescinded the nomination. They claimed some urged Voters to vote for the song. I think it is the best theme song I've ever heard sung for a film. I will always wish it had won the Oscar, and that Joni had been able to sing it on Oscar night for the national and international audience. Joni humbly gave God the glory. I know God will honor her and the composer.

I have the tape and also the music. I bought them a couple of years ago and thought the movie was beautiful, as showing the brave children and their faith in God. The song just added to that strength and faith. Those that took it away, paid no attention to its wisdom will one day see their own fear for throwing God away. That day is coming when God decides its the right time. He is waiting for repentance of those that have disobeyed him and continually try to take him from the ones that love him.

Joni Eareckson to me is the epitome of Gods grace. I have followed her ministry for many years now. I have just about everything she has written as well as the movie documenting her accident. She has persevered through her struggles with her quadriplegia and most recently her cancer diagnosis. I literally wept when I heard that news! All I want to say is, God bless you Joni for being an absolute inspiration to me and countless others!

Just found out about this, and have just one thing to say about this performance: Wow! Wow, wow, wow! In spite of the talent of hate-filled people to soil their own reputations in public, the fine quality of both the song and the performance shines unmistakeably through. By the way, the song is *not* written by the chief of the Academy's music branch. That is a past position, not a present one, and does not detract from the quality of the song or the performance, but sure does expose certain people's bigotted attitudes toward all things Christian.

All you ppl trashing this video are cold blooded & heartless. Part of the message is that even with everything she's been through she still has faith in God. Most ppl don't have that kind of strength or faith. And for the person who said all "she's doing is screaming God God God" where exactly was that part because I must have missed it.
