The annoucer at the beginning was actually Timo Pulkkinen, legendary finnish commentator, who worked with rallying and F1 commentary for three decades, starting from early 80's. That clip propably was one of his works from the mid 80's.

A nice little car, built in a better, bigger time when it was hardly worth getting out of bed without a hairy chest, and certainly impossible to race properly without one. The scenery would have been lovely in that bigger time too, but it's hard to imagine it now, with those monstrous carbuncles sloshing away, slicing the sky, each totem to folly, insulting the eye, for degenerate lolly, chopping the birds, and swatting the bees, smashing the bats, overshadowing trees.

Im not a race car driver, but he seems to be struggling with the car. Lots of roll and understeer, I think the car needs to have it setup looked at. Beautiful car though.

@@bertieperret Also, keep in mind that we weren't going for the fastest laps. Alister was driving for the camera. Often needing to stop and reset multiple times to interrupt his flow. The car performed very well keeping that in mind.

If ur looking for race track handling u should look into the lancia monte Carlo turbo race car. Its designed to out handle the porche 935 at the time but lacked the raw straight line acceleration of porche 935. 037 is designed for off-road rally racing with much softer suspension.

Now can't we have such cars like this even today? Designers and engineers are always into making what people want! Such as hybrids ,intelligent infotainment system ,artificial intelligence, electric drivetrain ,high fuel economy, comfort, safety etc ! But what about the purists and petrol heads ? Bike manufacturers are still making retro carbureted beasts ,and the what about tha car manufacturers! I'm not saying that they should not work on fuel injection and ways to enhance the performance of the engine , but can't we have something which is only meant to be driven and without any infotainment system ,just a light weight interior and a powerful engine ? Car manufacturers only make cars for earning money ,not for spreading love !

Not the best choice of road... Too much grip and Alister is obviously struggling with this, not wanting to destroy the tires and force the car beyond what would be "proper" for such a classic car. It would have looked better on a slightly dusty and more slippery european twisty road. Great car, great camera work, though! All the best_Costas

A beautiful bodywork and lots of nostalgia, that is an Italian word... As far as its performance is concerned, we all see the car rolls too much. It simply belongs to a past era. Engineering has changed for the better in the meantime... I am not saying it is ludicrous, but I presume, let's definitely say that I am convinced that more than 10 today's road cars could easily perform better than that former racing car.
