7:58 I asked my teacher if I could use that phrase and he said it's a bit primary school-ish? Will I actually gain more marks for making it flow better rather than saying "from my own knowledge" or is it better to just make it clear
@Alonglongtimeago
@Alonglongtimeago Жыл бұрын
There are absolutely no marks awarded at GCSE for making it flow nicely. So long as it makes sense and the spag is good, you won't have any problems whatsoever with very on the nose phrases. In my opinion, even though it sounds a bit stilted sometimes, it's a much better strategy to use very on the nose sign-posty language than worry too much about it flowing beautifully. Ultimately, the examiner is working to a bunch of checkboxes, so obvious sign-posting makes their job easier and makes it more likely that they'll pick up on where you're checking things of the marking criteria and that means more marks!

when the questions mention certain dates like in this vid, where it says in the years 1929-1932, how easy is it to write ab smth outside the time frame? and will it lose precious marks? majority of the time most of the info we need to answer that question will be within the time frame anyways right? if not, do u have any advice for what to do if u cant remember anything from within the time frame? (i know it may seem a silly question as u should prepare fully but i just wondered because perhaps ur mind could go blank during the exam etc.)

Hi there, great video. so for the 8 mark question for pretty much every topic in edexcel "explain two effects", ive found out a loophole which i can get done in a couple hours, so i have gotten a timeline from the edexcel revision guide (an example is Germany development of dictatorship) and i have put a subtitle under every topic and im still continuing to do this and im nearly finished, if i explain two effects of every single topic, atleast one of these topics will 100% be in the exam, its not an insecurity of being unable to memorise everything but time is everything, if i can remember every single point in a nutshell, ONE of these topics MUST come up! These are a couple examples, is this a good idea? It didnt take me very long, Armistice 1918 One effect of the Armistice on Germany was its end to the harsh conditions and loss of the First World War in which Germany had experienced food shortages as 750,000 Germans died of food shortages in World War One and more. World war one also caused huge costs to be made to keep up with the production of World War one, 150 billion marks were spent on the war and this wasn’t even the worse of it as Germany suffered the future events of the reparation payments as 269 billion gold marks to Britain, the USA and France. Another effect of Armistice had of accepted defeat that made Germany experience the Treaty of Versailles, which enforced economic strain on Germany, and limited the German army to 100,000 troops, this also constituted the Weimar Republic, which caused communism Like the Spartacist Revolt, this also enforced Freikorps unemployment's struggle due to the treaty, which enforced the Kapp putsch and the chained events of the nomination of Hitler as chancellor in 1933. New Constitution national assembly 1919 One effect of the New constution on the national assembly was that as a result of the new republic, Ebert was reassuring to people like Hugo Stinnes where Ebert proclaimed that no factories will be confiscated by the New Republic and workers will still have full control of their factory industries without the involvement of the new republic, this is to ensure the continuation of production of the economy and the businesses that entice employment, Another effect was that the effect of the new republic was that officers and soldiers will remain the same and keep their ranks and this was taken kindly by the General as they were keen to defend the new Weimar Republic. The Weimar Republic/ Constitution One effect was The Weimar constitution was its involvement in democracy and proportional representation where seats were allocated for parties with the votes. An electoral system in which parties gain seats in proportion to the number of votes cast for them. Democracy helped in the arrangements of an equal fair law Another effect of the Weimar republic was Article 48, in this effect the article 48 was a key to bypass the very means of democracy and enforce laws without and kind of approval. Article 48 was initially supposed to be used as a means of emergency when parties were out of control but this article was heavily misused and caused strives of power for many in the Weimar Republic. Spartacist Uprising One effect of the Spartacist uprising was the many fights in the streets between Spartacist Communists and the Freikorps. The Freikorps hated communists and wanted to put an end to them, the effect of these fights between communists and the Freikorps was not only the numerous deaths but also the deaths of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, the two primary communist leaders who were shot in the streets by Freikorps. Another effect of the Spartacist uprising was the Spartacist seizing of government offices and the raids by communists. This had only sped up the need for importance of a new constitution and a democratic government. Treaty of Versailles 1919 One effect of the treaty was that it totally punished Germany for its damage made to Britain, the USA and other countries such as France. Reparations were expected to be paid to the three big countries with a total sum of 132 billion gold marks for WW1 reparations. Germany also lost 48 percent of its iron industry and suffered economic depression shown within hyperinflation and the need of the rentenmark by Stresemann . Another effect of the treaty was its efficiency to end German opposition to the opposing countries. This had left Germany humiliated as they had no power to speak after accepting total defeat, this had also sparked reparations to be paid to the countries and because of the funding spent on the first world war combined with the repayments, not only could Germany not pay off the debt but also had no power of defence as their military was shortened to 100,000 soldiers which means the French occupation of the Ruhr was extremely easy for the French to take over the industrial area of Germany to use that as a reparation substitute however was by no means the same as paying off the debt, the Germans were humiliated because of this. This is just an example of what im talking about so ignore the length of all these questions lol

I'll have to disagree with you there, you'll find academic historians using "I" and "my" these days! To say never use them is quite outdated. History is, after all, just a series of opinions!
