"Back in the day, you didn't have to be a gangster to be respected"--so true. Why so many youngsters respect "gangsters" today is beyond comprehension.
@hmm64155 жыл бұрын
@Po Weather They'll never understand the power of influence. The youth is smothered with negative images portrayed on TV and movies, because that's mainly the available roles to "leaders" other than slave roles and cross dressing roles. The everyday music promoted the lifestyle. It was all by strategic design anyway. Doesn't take much to keep us down because our people are gullible. Poverty tends do that, which is also by strategic design. Nobody in power is going to share their power, especially with those that don't look like them and those that aren't cut from the same cloth. It's not hard to understand. Just gotta keep stepping back until you can see the whole picture and not be distracted by purposely created distractions. They play for the long term. Our people are too busy living day to day to grasp anything that's really going on around them. It's sad, really.

@Po Weather I grew up in the 70s and 80s in Chicago. Drugs, alcohol, crime, etc. has ALWAYS and will ALWAYS be a part of the urban landscape. My point is I never looked up to any of the gangster; never joined a gang; never wanted to be a gangster. I don't understand the appeal.
@williemo445 жыл бұрын
Gangsters have always gotten respect going way back to the early 1900s. The love affair between America and The Gangster will always be. Revolution is the spirit America was built on. Gangsters are counter-culture to the system. Gangsters are obviously anti-Government aside from the rules that the streets are governed by. F Tha Police was exactly that, anti-establishment, anti-government (hence the dramatized setting of the song being a courtroom where Dre is the presiding judge).

(Preacher’s Kid), but always respected and listened to my uncles who were hustlers. One in particular worked at as a machinist, at a major defense manufacturer. He was making 6 figures, had rental property and always invested in Black owned, small businesses. During one conversation he told me to always have money in your pocket. He stated, “I never leave home without at $1000. I was only 16 or 17 at the time, but made it a point to have at least $50.

True story. When the interviewer asked Lonzo about Easy looking sick...BEHOLD!!! I held this story for a long time. Ok, forget about who i am. I'm a soul in a body...back then, 95, my boy Hak and i were regular panel props for the corny ass Richard Bey show which, at the time was watched heavily before Springer and Maury came out. We aired on one of the biggest shows in Jan 95, ( snow storm east coast everybody was home dr king day) everywhere we would go we would get the " yo yall niggas was on that Richard bey show" I mean from everywhere.....we was from east orange hi wen it existed so naughty was everywhere at that time too so, locally was a lil known ( delusional lol) One night, Feb 1995, Hak and I went to club Nells. All people 45 and up know what I'm talking about, I'm 46 now..21 turning 22 that year. When u entered Nells there was the ticket check, coat, the huge big bar upon entrance , the stage, the stairs leading down to the main bottom floor dancefloor ( a sweat box for real..we really danced back then lol) upon getting downstairs, a small bar to the left, in front was the restrooms with a straw chair in front forhood pictures. Easy E was sitting in the chair,French corn rolls ( he needed a lil touch up lol because u couldn't wear hats in Nells.) Me and Hak go, " yo that's fucking Easy e nigga" oh shit...so, we went by him he looked fine double fisted, two drinks, two chicks in his ear...someone yelled out " yall them two niggas from that show" we started laughing, easy said straight up, " yo the one with the porn chicks wilding? That shit was hilarious " we gave hime a pound and proceeded to the dance floor...HE LOOKED PERFECT..TRUE STOR... Y....FEB 1995. Of course the next month , when he died supposedly of aids..Hak and I said ..yo we just saw that nigga...he was fine..... Wen you had aids back then, you was skinny drying up over time. Or you were a crackhead. Yes aids was prevalent, but no one in our circles was catching aids like that from smashing..it was mostly, sad to say, gaymales, and intravenous drug users. My dad caught it that way...a generation b4 us late 60s and early to mid 70s kids..facts..
