Oiling my scalp works for me only as a prepoo to loosen the tangles at the root and my hair, I use olive oil to detangle. I haven't done a wash and go but I agree that finger detangling is faster and gentler for my strands and makes my curls pop(my hair is 4a/4b). And the amount of sections I do depends on how tangled my hair is.

Sulphate free shampoo just doesn't work for my hair at this length. It worked when my hair was chin length and shorter but once it passed clavicle length and now that it's armpit length I just can't do it. My strands form a seemingly impenetrable layer whenever I use sulphate free shampoos, the hair shaft will be clean but my roots almost always have buildup unless I was in a million sections and scrub my scalp within an inch of its life.

I had this same thought when I started wash n go at first but Akias videos helped a lot. Then, I realised that the environmental situation in my area warrants a heavy-duty gel and my hair is prone to tangle and webbing so, I bought a lightweight detangling conditioner that works very well with my gels. I use gels with plasticisers and polymers. I don't follow this botanical gel stuff because it won't work with my hair density, pattern and humid weather.

Lol! when I saw the curly girl handbook in the thumbnail! 1.ACV- nope. My Trichologists ended DIYs 2. Tea rinses. As a resident British person, I object to the wastage of perfectly good tea. This is not the Boston Tea Party. I don't know if this tea wastage is an American thing. I'm certain the people in the Deep South going to sit on their porch and drink their sweet tea not pour it on their head. Lol! 3. Clay- My trichologists make a clay mask so I'm good. see above: they cancelled my DIYs. 4. Eating for hair growth: yeah I tried some hair vitamins and Olaplex had a bigger result. So I take supplements for my body now not my hair. 5. Wigs and weaves: ( protective styling?) I wear wigs about twice a month no longer than 24 hours. I do not leave in extensions. Now I do have a lot of headscarves so I wear them a lot to stop my hair from drying out, especially in the winter. My workplace dries out my hands so I can imagine it drying out my hair so I wear the scarf as a bit of protection. Mostly it's half wigs, half weaves, clip-ins and headband wigs that I take off when I get home. 6. Oiling scalp: See above me Trichologists cancelled my scalp oiling. 7. The curly girl method: So yeah when I first went natural I got the first edition of the book back in 2009. It did help me understand moisture and ingredients so yes I do have a soft spot for the book. However, my scalp revolted and I had to go back to using sulfates and silicones from my Trichologists. 8. The maximum hydration method: Never did it. It made wash day way too long. Wait a minute did I say wash day I meant wash week!! 9. combs and brushes on wash and go's: Nope I just use my hands and put it in a puff and go. My hair shrinks too much for all that raking and shaking. 10. Washing in sectioned clips: Tried it and stopped since neither my trichologists nor my stylists section my hair to wash it. Hope you had a laugh. I have ultra-fine, ultra-dry, high porosity, high density 4c pen-spring coils. If my Aveda stylist and my trichologists are not doing it neither am I. They do my hair in its curly state in an hour so I do not need to be taking 8 hours to do my hair.
