I was so blown away the first time I watched this video that I forgot to mention that I love the pace of your video. Not too fast and not too slow. Great voice too. Well done.

Thank you very much! It's so hard to know sometimes as whats in your head seems easy to you when you teach it, but often it's easy to get carried away - so I really appreciate that feedback :)

Thanks for sharing this, Wade. I was not familiar with Alpaca. This is the perfect example of an AI tool traditional artists can really take advantage of. My daughter has been a comic con scene artist for over a decade. She is so angry about AI. Which is sad because AI is my business. I look at Alpaca and think, wow, this is like when artists started using digital tablets and Photoshop instead of pen and paper. At first, there was a lot of resistance. Now it's totally normal. Great video!

Looks like a useful tool. I don't think AI itself is a thing for artists to be angry at... although it may be scary at first... how some of the models have been created I think brings up legitimate concerns for artists such as in their art being included in models without their consent... and issues of their style being cloned... (i'd say in one sense if an artist is popular enough then their style being cloned would be beneficial but if they're unknown then it may just dilute the exposure that artist should have got). Also the other thing that is not AIs fault but which AI may contribute to, is the focus on quantity over quality for gaining exposure on platforms(this has already been a long running issue, but I think AI may have just added fuel to this issue although I've also seen that it has got people wanting more authentic/original works I think the idea of putting out more content to gain exposure is worse than ever although this is not inherently a problem with AI. If you're the type of artist who likes to make some amazing piece that takes 100s if not 1000s of hours then it becomes a huge life sacrifice in many ways.. I would know lol. As amazing as AI tools are I also think it's important for artists to not lose touch with drawing from scratch and understanding what's behind the art they make.

Yeah, I think finding ways to combine the skills with AI is the fun of it for artists. But if you're not artistically inclined you also have access to it via text prompt, we all get something different out of it I think!

There's an open-source pre-alpha app that already has more features than this, with a better-looking UI, and with unrestricted use of any local open source model / cloud api you want. This is super encouraging. Makes me feel very hyped about the future of open source. 😊

Now imagine combining this with Sora from OpenAI. You'd be able to create interesting videos with more precision than just a simple prompt.

That’s a simple image with only one subject. Does this tool have a lasso tool so you can move the fox around the canvas and change the composition of the image? Can you add other subjects to the image (e.g., a baby rabbit), as well as other elements to the background? How much control do you have over the composition? Can you add multiple different elements to the scene?
@Voloskaya5 ай бұрын
Yes, they have a layer system like in photoshop so you can do all of this. No lasso tool though, but you can move the layers

They have since added lasso generation tool and are constantly adding more

Same with Playground AI, but this seems to be easier to get started. And Playground AI struggles with uploaded art, in my experience. But - to be fair - I just started using Alpaca about 20 minutes ago.
