Otis Traction Red Elevators - The Westin Bonaventure Hotel - Los Angeles, California

This is the red bank of elevators at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, California. I think True Lies was filmed in this same bank. It's an awesome movie. Also, I was able to get to the 35th floor, which is very rare sense it is locked at this hour.

I rode these today! I really enjoyed riding these and this was in my bucket list to check out. It was actually unlocked before 5pm when I went here

You got lucky. The guest floors are all key carded now, which totally ruins the experience of this place.

@@alpaljl It sure does, I did also ride the Blue Tower elevators. I did the Las Vegas method, if you know what I mean.

those elevators terrified me when I took them the first time. I don't know when I'll head back there again but I always pass by them when I'm in LA

My fist trip to LA was in 1984 (just as the Olympics finished) Checked in that this hotel and was exited to find we were staying on the 27th floor. 2716 if I recall.

@alpaljl The rattle was the elevator car.....some of the guide rails arent aligned properly and when the wheels go to another section of rail, it shakes and jerks the car a little bit

@cannycart This was on the TX9. I filmed this in January. You can't do that on the TX9 :(, but on the TX10 which I just got you can. :) BTW - I'm leaving for Florida tonight. =D

@gamerhack I'm not completely sure. My guess is it's something in the machine room or in the hoistway.

@musicfreakcc In the lobby, the elevators are are enclosed, but while traveling on the exterior of the building above the lobby, they are exposed to the elements. I don't think that was very good on planning because the hoistways look rather worn.
