We spontaneously went to france to ride the Iconic Alpe d'Huez. We stayed at a camping with our van and rode the Alpe d'Huez on the next morning.
We started our tour in Le Bourg d'Oisansa and rode to the summit of the Aple d'Huez. The climb goes via the D211 from where the distance to the summit (at 1,860 m (6,102 ft)) is 13.8 km (8.6 mi), with an average gradient of 8.1%, with 21 hairpin bends and a maximum gradient of 13%.
After a quick stop at the top we continued our tour riding to Col de Sarenne (1,999 m (6,558 ft) a mountain pass located in the Grandes Rousses massif, approximately 9 km (6 mi) east of Alpe d'Huez in the Isère department of France.
We continued the tour passing through beautiful small villages and places like Mizoën, Lac Chambon with an amazing view of the lake and the dam and after we made our way to Le Freney-d Oisans, Le Grand Châtin, Le Petit Châtain and headed back to Le Bourg d'Oisans.
It was not a long tour, but it was very beautiful. We rode a total of 64km (39mi) with just 2,110m (6,922 ft) of elevation gain. I definetly recommend to go and ride the Alpe d'Huez if you never rode it.
