Now, what I like about Alpha and Omega is actually its animation. Unlike most CGI movies nowadays, this movie does not take computer animation too far. It doesn't try anything too fancy, it's only something simple that fits the story. I wish more computer-animated movies could be more like this. Now, I get why people dislike the writing, there's not much reason to care for Humphrey or Kate, and it looks obvious that they're going to end up together. But I actually did like the other romance between Lily and Garth. Lily was somewhat cute, and Garth turned out to be a pretty likable character. I can see why Bobsheaux likes Lily so much. Frankly, the only bad thing I can say about Alpha and Omega is the sequels. I have not seen any of those sequels, but from what Bobsheaux tells, they are pretty bad. I would take The Land Before Time over Alpha and Omega any day.

I really don't understand what a lot of people here see in this movie. I watched it myself, and I honestly found it mediocre. There were a few funny moments and I did like Lily and Garth's relationship, but overall, the story felt underwhelming, the characters weren't really that likeable, their designs look unappealing, and most of the film was kinda dull. It's definitely not the worst movie ever, but it's not one I'll be seeing again.

@SilviaFingerotter9 жыл бұрын
I like this movie but it's very flawed. First of all, I do like the concept, but the plot itself is tired and overused. I actually liked the characters and I personally like their designs (although on the extras they are pretty lazy) . I also think Lily and Garth's subplot is really sweet and they are very cute as a couple. On the downside, the animation is not very good compared to the films of its time (How To Train Your Dragon, Legends of the Guardians and Toy Story 3 were released the same year). I don't think it's bad as it is said to be, in fact it can look really nice, and the backdrops are beautiful; but sometimes the movement in the film looks like it's from a video game...and the overall quality of the CGI needs improvement. So my scores: Story: 5/10 Animation: 6/10 Characters: 8/10 Overall: 7/10
@SkymationProductions-uf9oz9 жыл бұрын
alpha and omega is just terrible I mean the characters (especially Humphrey) are so annoying and stupid that I couldn't stand them for 5 minutes and I had to watch them for fartin, 90 and the story feels like the writers can just rip off whatever they want and slap it into their own movie (romeo and Juliet. open season sheen) that just ticks me off and even the animation looks like it was made in 2001. mostly the character designs make the wolves. look like rejected characters from open season and the character animation and the backgrounds look very basic and cheap that it gave me nothing interesting to look at. the only good thing about this film are the goose and the duck and the song the wolves sang on the train. so overall I'd give this film a 3/10.

As someone who really likes wolves, I really just want a new movie about them... Preferably in 2-D animation and a serious movie, we have WAY too many kids movies that are CG and comedy and I think it would be a breath of fresh air for the movie industry and for parents too who end up taking their kids to see a movie that was just pandering to what focus groups think kids like.

Pros: The character design for the wolves is actually decent, and some of the movements are smooth. There’s more effort put in this movie than all of the Alpha and Omega sequels. Lilly and Garth’s relationship is nice. It feels natural instead of forced. Garth is actually pretty likable. Lilly is cute and one of the more relatable characters. The soundtrack is easy on the ears. We don’t see Stinky, Claudette or Ruby. Kate’s actually the strong Alpha she’s supposed to be and Humphrey is the funny Omega. Cons The backgrounds are bland. The human designs are pretty ugly. Humphrey is a jackass. Kate and Humphrey’s relationship feels forced. The story is predictable. Marcel and Paddy are unnecessary comic reliefs. The movie would have looked better in 2D. Even though we don’t see the Kate and Humphrey’s ugly kids, there are still pups with that ugly design.

CyberLance26 Let's look at this movie more closely, shall we... It's basically Lion King 2, Balto, and a bit of Happy Feet combined in one movie. There are also other references and other cliches used from other films that are either completely predictable, stupid, obnoxious, or just plain insulting. Do I even need to mention that this movie rip-offs the Wildebeest Stampede scene from the Original Lion King? Because it does. That scene is one of the dramatic and iconic scenes in animation, and ripping it off is downright pathetic. Do not try to give this movie any credit whatsoever, let alone the studio that made it. Look at the next two films this studio made; Escape from Planet Earth and, now, Norm of the North. Yeah... This studio makes Blu Sky look like they have the most brilliant writers on Earth.

I enjoyed this movie alot actually. Although there were quite a bit of cliches I think the story and the characters alot. The humor was good too. Tho I do agree partially with this review. I found it kinda strange how this movie made it to theatres. But it's fairly better than most movies you might see
As a kid I LOVED Alpha and Omega, as an almost adult I HATE Alpha and Omega for SO many reasons, one said reason is that the focus really should have been on Lily and Garth, instead of Kate and Humphrey who are far less interesting in almost every way. On another note, surprisingly enough, where I hated all of this film's other sequels, I actually enjoyed it's forth sequel "The Legend of Sawtooth Cave" which actually involved a slightly darker story given the target audience, and the literal offing of one she-wolf on screen, which was really not expected given that it was a low budget, cash grabbing kid's film (And by "On Screen" I mean they do a Bambi and show her running before the sounds of fighting ensue, and which point we later hear one of the she-wolf's daughters say, quote "She never made it back", which is pretty dang close to them actually, well, offing her on screen). I'm not saying that TLoSTC was a good movie by any means, but it was more impressive then the first AaO in more ways then one, surprisingly, the animation was almost as good as the first movie's also.
@sebastianzhang89656 жыл бұрын
If they mainly focused on Lilly and Garth I wouldn’t have been as interested in the movie as I was back then.That’s why the movie was so amazing to me because Kate and Humphrey were in it and Lilly and Garth were the side characters

-The designs on their own are bad enough, seeing them get up on all fours and act like humans is just facepalm fuel -Humphrey and Kate are pretty bad names for main characters, especially since they're animals -The ending was pretty clearly stolen from The Lion King and I knew exactly what was going to happen -Why couldn't the wolf packs just unite without Kate marrying Garth and why was she so unwilling to in the first place -Why does Humphrey almost completely lack a personality -Why is this movie so bad -I've seen it once and I forget almost every minute of it.

Ouch this review hurt. I really like Alpha and Omega. They played it (daily) on a channel on a cruise ship, and I thought it was cute. I happen to be really open-minded, so I didn't mind the clichés too much. Alpha and Omega put everything together in a way that while cliché, it was still loveable. It's become like a guilty pleasure, I guess. I know it's not GREAT, but I think it's good. Kate and Humphrey are really cute, and I really liked the story with Lilly and Garth. Kate's mom is hilarious. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this, as seen from the comments. While Alpha and Omega may not be a timeless classic, I think it's in the collection of adorable movies. You seemed to have had your "harsh critic" cap on when you watched this movie, and while I understand the flaws, I still see the hard work they put into the movie itself. The story was very cute. There were actually some things that made it different from others. The characters are, in my opinion, actually pretty developed and interesting in their own unique way. They weren't developed 100%, it enough to make it so I could still feel for them. The animation, while not incredibly smooth and polished, you need to understand that animation is hard. Whether it be Flash, traditional, or CGI, animation will always be hard. Given the fact the producer worked on The Black Cauldron, which has also mixed reviews, this movie seems to sit in the mixed reviews spot too. However, this movie seems to have become an enjoyable movie (and even a guilty pleasure) for many, so I'm happy I'm not alone. I think it's one of the hits; just not a great hit. But then again, his other hit "The Black Cauldron", was also not a great hit... Anyway, my apologies for ranting. I'm not hating on you. I do enjoy *most* of your videos. I just wanted to voice my opinion. :)
@SpaceOmega-zz6vs10 жыл бұрын
Don't feel guilty about it.. The problem with people is that they often compare a small company to a bigger company and how some attack the style (aka, not actually flaws). Yet, this movie was good enough for many people to enjoy. I always wonder if some critics were attacking the animation style or they meant that it wasn't very smooth? :/ Does the movie have flaws? Well if there is actually critique flaws like glitches, choppy, lighting issues, etc. Then yeah they could of done better maybe. Though, a "cliche" isn't a flaw it's self as some people like it and I see nothing wrong with the art style of the characters too. Could the script be more beefy? Probably but I can see it's still enough for many. :) Anyway, yeah I don't see how this movie has much issues, it seems like a classic for what it is for probably a lot.

@SpaceOmega-zz6vs10 жыл бұрын
Kayah Brown It lacks what? xD And hmm, I don't think I ever heard or seen any of those. Still though, from what I can see, it doesn't look like it's a "terrible graphic" thing because from a small company, it seems to not have much issues at all. Heck, from the previews, it was almost the quality as Pixar graphics in some way (I could be wrong).
@kukuandkookie10 жыл бұрын
wwwarea I tend to like most things thrown my way, and while I look back on the animation and go "hoo boy that scene could've been smoother", I do realize what a tough task it is to animate. Plus, as you said, it is a smaller company. Maybe it WOULD have looked better traditionally animated; idk, but I do like that the company tried CGI. :) The story may be cliche, but cliches are everywhere and for the most part they don't ruin this movie for me. I still enjoy it. As for critics, I agree. Sometimes critics are awesome when it comes to analyzing, but sometimes they OVER-analyze. Sometimes they look only at the flaws and don't think of the good things. I mean, sure; Alpha and Omega has some pretty big problems that might be hard to ignore - especially if they were expecting more or are used to good movies from companies like Disney or Dreamworks... But it's still a decent family movie that's enjoyable and cute. :)
@kaibrown701110 жыл бұрын

What if..? Alpha and Omega was a hand-drawn animated film released in July 20, 2001 by Paramount Pictures, had a story about a wolf named Sierra (Voiced by Ming-Na Wen) who lives in Wolf Peak in Colorado in 1937. Her home is ravaged by poachers and is separated from her pack, as she is lost in the woods she finds another wolf named Denver (Voiced by Tom Hanks) the two don't see eye to eye, until they get to know each other, there are more characters, a third wolf named Wupatki (Voiced by James Gandolfini), a raccoon named Kaibab (Voiced by Jim Belushi), and Casper (Voiced by Kevin Kline) and must find a new home. The film would've been composed by John Powell and would have a country soundtrack by the newly formed band, Rascal Flatts. It is not a musical, the songs are for the montages in the film, and the end credits. The film would be directed by Lauren Faust. The film would have walked so Ice Age, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and Brother Bear could run.

(granted, he told me that yesterday, but still. It takes a long time to sort those things out. I'll need that list by Tuesday at most.)

I don't even LIKE this movie and I'm angry that AniMat forgot Lily! She was a wonderful and funny character! Don't get me wrong, I'm not some Timber Humphrey clone, but how in the world do you forget Lily, a.k.a one of the very few reasons to even watch this movie?

I haven't seen it yet. But, the style of the characters is making me want to.

I actually like it, and with the character designs, you either love or hate them (I personally love them) its probably worth a watch :)

Aren't you being serious towards to the fans of the series? Cause you might getting offended by the fans cause they're like consumers.

Lol. "Katie" the alpha girl, and "Maurice" the goose. The characters are so forgettable that you didn't even get their names right. And I don't blame you at all.

AlbertoHerrera2000 Okay, but I'm not saying that Alpha and omega did any better, I was just saying from an outsiders stand point alpha and omega would look more appealing.

The problem with this film is that its a film about wolves but they really ruined it. I've wanted a good film about wolves since i read The Sight but no of course they come up with a dumb storyline that makes me soooo mad
