Only Valir is the counter, the other two? Many may choose dominance ice but i personal suggest the sea halberd to be the first item when your enemies had some good regen and shield abilities, especially thamuz, Esme, Yuzhong, Alucard, Belerick, Freya and the list goes on, many would asked why do so but i would say the passive explain all, when enemies had higher hp will deal extra 12% damage, and Alpha with sea halberd as first item basically got lower hp on most exp heroes, and the damage boost working for beta true damage as well, extra 25% attack speed also working great to trigger beta passive, and beta passive wasn't only dealing true damage, the most deadliest for the beta passive is applied a short 70% slow effect every time it triggered, i bet many doesn't even realise the slow effect

just poke argus with 1-2 skills and let him fall below 50%, he activates his ult then leave him like your ex. but go back at take revenge with your ult. Apart this any hero can be countered with any hero, its the battle scenario the player creates which make your hero dominate over other.

Based on my experience, Valir is the only counter. Valir is a piece of sh*t when i use Alpha. The other ones? Early game is basically the only time they can beat me, if mid game i would barely win and if late game, Thamuz is a joke when fighting against him in late game. LET ME TELL YOU, just buy Sea Halberd and Thamuz Ultimate + Vengeace combo isn't gonna be too much of a problem + if Thamuz uses Vengeace, it's not gonna matter too much since Alpha's annoying Spell Vamp at the late game is gonna keep him sustain. If Freya, kinda easy but not as easy as Thamuz
