This is there type of serious conversation that needs to be had with people. If you don't have starting capital to begin with, and you debt finance, you will be forced to sell before profit is realized and never get your cycle running! I love it! Make more of these Rudy!

This video was awesome! I enjoyed the whole thing! I’m 36, I collected cards in Alpha but I never saw any of the moxes, but was aware of them. With that said I have played this game for a good while and have watched the market as I merely played to have fun with my friends. Last year I hit a rough patch and had to sell what I had, it wasn’t much, I did have a Mox diamond, but I bought it when it was $25! A Liliana of the Veil, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, 3 Snapcaster Mages, My Ravnica, Guildpact, Dissension Shocklands, my playset Of Force Of Wills (alliances, also bought when they were $25!) and a few other goodies. I pulled a good amount of these cards, the Lili and Snapcasters I got from a box of Innistrad my friends and I split 3 ways, and my wife bought me the pack that we pulled Jace from! I fell off the couch when I saw it! Anyways, we come to now, I haven’t looked at Magic because I was pretty heartbroken, I knew I couldn’t really afford to obtain my old cards, especially seeing how much Mox Diamond went up! I decided to invest in newer cards instead of building decks, watching your channel has been refreshing and I was happy when you began to like Modern Horizons. I thought it looked like a stellar set and felt I had made the right call when you said you were wrong about Horizons and it looks really good. I do appreciate your financial advice and I hope you keep your chin up. For one hard luck case you definitely have a made a friend out of me for your content and compassion. Thanks bro.

@@C0urne I doubt it. Rudy's booster box deals are the cheapest I have seen. I doubt he makes anything on most of the sales or loose if you count the free labour involved. But it's a nice monthly income I guess patrion takes 5% PayPal takes 5% and the irs 22%

@@ricardoblikman2676 Yup, it's the delicate balance of having enough patrons that don't buy too much. Selling boxes for a small loss while making up for it on patreon.
@q......5 жыл бұрын
You have to look at it from how much does it add to the cost of a box. Storage will not add that much to it unless you are paying out the ass for square footage. Let's take a very secure self storage as an example, very expensive to store things in. 10x10 climate controlled in Jacksonville FL will run you around 75 per month or 900 for the year, so 2,700 for 3 years. Depending on how much you want to access in that 10x10 space the figures will differ but let's say you stack it to the ceiling taking up every single inch you can. The ceilings are around 8ft, but for simplicity's sake let's say we can only fit 15 high which is around 7.5 ft. A case takes up 0.443 cubic ft. The space inside the 10x10 space is roughly 750 cubic ft. That means we should be able to fit around 1,693 cases in that space, but let's just say 1600 or around 708 cubic ft. That's 9,600 booster boxes. So basically it would add roughly 28 cents to the cost of the booster box you want to sell. If you figure all 1600 are standard boxes at roughly 75 per box that's an inventory of 720,000. Depending on a few factors a $1,000 per year policy would cover that, but hell let's say you have something that is making it go up to something insane like 3,000. That's still only 94 cents added to the box price. Storage + insurance in that extreme added just 1.21 to the cost of the booster box, basically less than 2%.

I'm interested in what this model would look like over the last 10 years. I would say moved 60% of product after 3 years 20% after 4 and 30% after 5 or move into a rotation similar to the buy style and get a honest number of potential for a period of time. Really cool to look at this from this perspective. Rudy you have enough people who would join a **insert investment app of choice here*** style of investment that this could legitimately be a business model you could follow. Have a structure set up to penalize people for pulling out early almost like a secured deposit. Kinda cool though. Would definitely be interested in something like this. For sure money to be made.

Glad to see you are in our lefty team :) I don't see how anyone could tie up 1.8M in cash for the 3 years cycle. Even if I wanted to try that, I could never get the money. No one can borrow that kind of cash. I could probably do it but divided by 5 and even that would require a lot of work to find the money.

Thnx. Good video. I belive that what you say at the end (25+% over 4 years) will needs a longer ripening time for a smaller % each time more people do this... changes based on how many 500box positions are being held what you said at the end of the video is still true but another variable is how many 4 year 500 box plans exist concurrently compared to past demand for a 4year set without a hypothetically unforseenly lrg "investor" position like lorwyn or inistrade which could be used as an indicator of how much more maturation time per return might be expected moving forward ( modern horizons has more playable value than any other set "as intended" ie not urzas saga and if that increases it could change things for the better as in shorter ripening times imho...

I actually like this kind of video. I've recently become interested in how this kind of stuff works and, while not able to financially do any of this, it sets a premise for how MTG just works in general and how you need to have tremendous foresight on what to plan for. Personally from what I've noticed is Commander products see pretty good growth even only a year after release. Maybe do videos based on the non standard products and do more "focused" style videos on what each product brings or high/low points of the year based on wallet fatigue. Such as M series being released shortly after the 4th of July and after sets such as War of the Spark or Dominaria
