HI :) Creating pads on a one VCO synth is possible by using the other sub-oscillator and secondary oscillators such as the LFO. Careful use of Pulse Width modulation....and chorus help liven up a patch/sound. The rate settings of the LFO, chorus amounts and the PW mod rate make all the difference in a patch sounding thin and dull or warm, lush and organic. Also keep the VCF Fc moderate, keeping watch over those higher frequencies. Make the PWM work for you. :)
@ElectronicazMusic5 жыл бұрын
Beautifully said. What distortion did you use all those years ago for the wonderful guitar type sounds at the end? So rich!

The great thing on the Alphas is that you can have PWM on sawtooth as well!

Hi, thanks so much. :) I will post a video on making that patch soon. I would love for other Juno-1/2 users to post videos of compositions using that sound, that would be neat to see other peoples interpretation of it for leads.I will look at the patch sheet again and see what I have everything programmed to.The ADSR can be modified too, if you want a faster attack (T1), change is from 20 to 00, with (L1) to 100% or however you find most useful. Have fun with your Juno! Its awesome. :) TSF

I agree. :) I have played a Juno-60, a Juno-106 and my lovely Juno-1 and they all are very warm. I'd say that the Juno-1 is a little thinner of a sound, but not by much. If you listen to a CZ-101/5000 and then the Juno-1, you will hear it for sure. I love my Juno-1 as it is small, sounds warm and has stable tuning due to the DCO which is kept in tune and can't drift since it is a DCO. Its a great synth!. :) :) TSF

HI :) The Alpha Juno-1 and 2 have the blue screens. My Juno-1s LCD is a little dark from age compared to the mint Juno-2 that lives in the studio. Its very bright on the Juno-2 since its in perfect condition from little use by the past user. I believe that there are orange and blue replacements/modifications that can be made to the Junos, but I actually love the bright blue LCDs. :)

You make such great patches! I picked one of these up this weekend. My first analog synth! It's already best friends with my korg radias! :)

Hi! No problem. :) A 'patch' is a name used for a "sound". Back in the day when modular synthesizers (synths with individual modules for each function adsr,osc, filter.....) were to be programmed, you had to use a patch cable (looks like a thin guitar cable). With those cables, you can interconnect the various modules to create a 'patch' or a 'patched sound' to play with. Its so wonderful that you are getting into synths again. :) TSF

I listened some patches from the Arturia sinth collection vst, and lots of patches from Arp, Moog, etc. sounded like my Juno2! Really a must to have. In the beginning, using headphones, I thought it was dull and flat but linking it to a mixer and a pair of loudspeaker.....Wow!!

Nice video and thanks for taking the time to make it and post it. I just bought an Alpha Juno-1 that has mouse eaten black keys - works perfectly though. It was also pretty scuzzy too. It was stored in a garage or shed . I only paid $35 for it though, so no complaints. I've had an MKS-50 for 8 or 10 years, so now I can layer them or play both together. I too think that the Alphas are underrated. Cheers.

HI :) I have printed patch sheets that I keep data on as well as cassette tape, but currently my Juno-1 is undergoing some minor synth 'surgery' at the moment and is out of service for a few days. I only have cassette tapes and datasheets. SysEx has never worked for any of my synths unfortunately. I would be thrilled to share patches, its just getting files to transfer is the issue computer wise.

HI. I used 70%. I use it in small amounts, dry it immediately and give it time to dry completely before re-assembly. Before cleaning plastic, I always test the alcohol on the inside of the plastic, where if there is an issue, it won't be visibly noticeable. So far, I have never had a synth have reactions to the alcohol. Even so, I am always careful to test first.

@BurninVinyl HI :) Thanks so much. :) I love programming the Juno, its an underrated synth for sure. Unfortunately Juno-1 doesn't have an arp :( I wish it did, and no Sample&H either :(. However if you have a synth or drum machine with an arp in it, you can send the midi data from that synth to the Juno but hear Juno's sounds. I do that a lot with my Juno-1 and the arpeg in the Emax SE. Works great. You might want to look for a Juno-60 if the arp is a must. :) :) TSF

@shckltnebay Hi :) Thanks, this video is a little outdated now, so I'll be recording a new Juno video soon. :) The last few sounds on the video were the only ones effected with a delay unit, its a Zoom 707ii. Its a great unit and is easy to program once you get familiar with it. All of the settings I modify, then I save them in the unit (which will keep settings in memory without a battery) and then recall different ones for each patch depending on the sound. :) TSF

@TheSynthFreq... :) Hi, you sure love your synths and it shows! @Kyrite420 I'd go with the Juno 1 over the poly 800. Totally different sounding. More air in the polys, reliability issues as well. However the Poly 800s (I have a Mk2) are exceedingly fun to create sci-fi + slap back delay sounds. Are also capable of some pretty nice strings sounds. The Junos = warmer and have better midi implementation.

HI :) That is wonderful that you will have a Juno-1! Great synth with a big sound. Alpha Juno come in two flavors, Juno-1 with 49 full size keys, no velocity, Juno-2 has 61 full size keys, velocity sense and a cartridge. Juno-1 is smaller lighter in weight since its chassis is plastic and metal, the Juno-2 is solid metal, heavy, but well made. I have the 1 and 2 and they both are excellent synths. Check out the related videos or my channel for plenty of videos of the Juno. :)

Fred Skymberg hi! I’m doing ok. Just waiting out this virus and trying to be careful and stay inside most days. I have so much synthesizer work and composing to do that I have years of work in the studio to stay occupied through and pandemic and beyond. I have videos to post as well and might try the live stream thing too. I’d love to connect with everyone again. Right now I’m without electricity too due to a transformer issue outside. So I’m hoping I will have power sometime today. Power outrage during a pandemic is a bit disturbing... :/ How are you doing? Please be safe everyone and just know I’m always here thinking of everyone in synth freq spirit. Always.

great demo, I've got one coming my way, I bought one to just have the original hoover sound. and it's pretty cheap, some of the sounds in thebeginnning are great... the later sounds were you overload your soundcard? or the mic ? or was it through effects being overloaded?
