I am really proud of these young men because (1) one of them just happens to be my son (Jeff) (2) they are from Ole Ms (3) they are truly outstanding young men and (4) I am a SIGMA (pledged Ole Ms. Spring '78 and national stepping champion in '79 and '80) and they call me "PoP"'...I taught Jeff to step when he was about 8 or 10 years old and he has carried it on into college and became a wonder man of Alpha...his line brother'sl are my "lil sons" and I totally am very proud of each of them...MUCH LOVE FROM PAPA STAN...and to my son Jeff McIntosh (the one in the red shirt with the short hair)...I AM SO PROUD OF YOU AND MUCH LOVE!!

Yomi O. No need to be a dick, she doesnt know the culture so thats why she asked. But yes, the hissing is a common part of step routines and grew as a part of step dancing.

Alpha derive their style from Egyptian cultures. Snakes are a big part of that culture.

Im not sure but it seemed like the girls only hissed when something bad happened on stage, like that minor technical difficulty between the songs or when the guy finished low after the following step routine, so it seemed to me like it meant "dont about it, you guys are doing great, keep going". And it seemed like it was a unison thing, so it was probably the fraternity sisters.
