Cases of strangulation of children in refrigerators with handles did occur, and quite often. In 1956, the US Congress even passed a law banning the use of such refrigerators. And in my opinion, this fact makes the plot of the game more frightening.

@Victor-0562 жыл бұрын
@@spinafire Correction, the reason such fridges were banned was because the handle served as the locking mechanism, and to open it, you needed to pull the handle a certain way. The door was only able to be opened by the handle as a result, meaning if someone was trapped in the fridge, they cannot open it.

@@Victor-056 I can imagine it was law to *remove* doors from fridges in junkyards, then. Oh, and I saw scans of a 1950s / 1960s children's safety manual... It had some gems; from the Fridge death, to being run over in a pile of leaves, to (not a death) a 10 - 12 year old kid setting his house on fire and looking like he just saw Hell in nightmares for the first time.

Been binging this anthology's playthroughs by ABG and, gotta say, they really know how to define their style. The horror itself could use a bit more thought, some scares are repeated over different stories and most of them really don't land as they should, but other than that the subjacent stories, unsettling animations and creative audio work make for a very unique experience.
@pyrosnineActual2 жыл бұрын
So the best way I can understand this, is that each game of the anthology is exploring either a dream or a memory of the shit father, whose wife died. This game is a "memory" that explains how we got stuck sitting in front of a demon fridge, and why the daughter is there- and each of the little girl's drawings we find are of the different games of the anthology. Basically, he is traumatized and haunted by his wife's death, loses his major job, and takes up appliance repair to make ends meet, but falls deep into alcoholism, making him fall asleep at the worst time. The two endings - one is a "realistic" take on what's going on, and perhaps the other nightmares and main gameplay are the fevered imagination of one father's failure by getting drunk and passing out during "hide and seek". The other one is the "the fridge is an SCP and really did eat his daughter, and psychologically tormented him", but at least he's reunited with his dead family?

Funny enough, I think I preferred the quiet and subtleness of the first red fridge I saw - it had a silly looking death animation, but the quiet sneakiness of it was more unsettling than the fridge waddling and having voice lines. I also feel like I missed something...how did the second ending occur differently?

Old style fridges used to have a latch handle on them, meaning they could not be opened from the inside. Kids would climb into them for stuff like hide and seek and suffocate because they were air tight. It led to a ban on that type of fridge in the 50's. I think nowadays if you do have an old style fridge and take it to a dump they have to break the door off just in case. Seems like the red fridge games are all about the father feeling guilty and getting some silent hill style punishments for his alchoholism, child neglect etc.

The absurd beer VFX, stock phone SFX, surreal VO, the bleeding fridge, bathtub full of piss, the music from the radio... Not sure if this was made by a kid (that would explain the "drunkenness" effect) or a troll! As for the 3rd ending, wtf is Salad Fingers doing in that fridge?!

I think the "piss" inside the bathtub are supposed to indicate that the guy didn't cleaned his bathroom thus the water got stale and toxic after that much time, you can tell by in what state bathroom is anyway.
