I like how the further you went in the first level, the more corrupted things were, so what was a window is now a mouth, the base with friendly soldiers is now shooting at you and unleashing more corrupted soldiers, and the enemies are the same soldiers as you, but turned into monsters. I've seen a couple of similar games lately. This one actually looks more fun than frustrating. Many others seem to be basing their difficulty on ultra-monster-nerds that have been doing absolutely nothing but speedrunning Contra and Metal Slug non-stop for the last 30 years.

Agreed! I usually can't really get into these games because I was simply never very good at Contra. This demo definitely wasn't a cakewalk, but the sheer amount of lives you get seems to indicate that the developer wants to give beginners a chance too. I'd be surprised if there isn't a wide range of difficulty options in the final game.

So this is what they meant by "meat is murder". Good to know. Joke aside, this looks like a pretty good-looking (and grotesque-looking) game, though that's honestly true to _Contra_ too. The only thing that even somewhat throws me is how you presumably get killed by leftover live-wiring in that first stage that some enemies leave behind, but you just also get to breeze past two flaming vehicles you just destroyed that have dozens of sawblades on the fronts. Then again, I suppose if something like that did look like it was above to explode, you definitely wouldn't want to be anywhere near the front of it even if you had to risk running right past it.

I love how the shooting of each gun will eventually go with the beat, once he got the shotgun it took it a few seconds before the song switches up and now the shotgun firing goes with the double bass of the drums.

The graphic looks nice, unlike some of the other "pixel art" I seen so far in indie games. The theme is not bad either, meat and metal. You can seemingly upgrade each weapon, and there are now upgrades that are there only temporarily... a nice change. Though just copying weapons woulda have worked for me too. Overall this is a interesting prospect to look forward to, so I can finally stop keep playing Super Cyborg and Blazing Chrome... and have a change for a change! lol

I absolutely love how a number of the weapons (such as the green double-shot and blue tri-shot) had a fire rate that matched/complimented the music. (the green double-shot syncing with the BPM through-out [like at 3:10], weapon-hits syncing with the music [like at 1:17], the blue tri-shot syncing with the drums at 1:04 [and at 5:18], and the blue burst-shot syncing at 2:43)

Meat apocalypse seems to be a genre that's picking up steam now. Just the other day i was seeing the video demo for another meat apocalypse game--an upcoming rpg called Death Trash where meat just seems to grotesquely grow out of the ground. Anyway back to this game--Iron Meat seems to be a lot of fun. It's the classic run n' gun formula updated for the modern age!

Man, i wish that wouldve been an arcade game in the day. Looks retro yet contemporary.
