There's a dark side to every single job you work. Some people just tell themselves "It was just a job" and move on. It takes a big man to stand up and admit when you compromised your own morality for the sake of a paycheck, all of us do it at some point be it by large or by small, but few are so honest enough about it with themselves and others. The fact that you feel guilt over it, and be willing to talk about it openly, causes me to think more highly of you not less.

Yeah, I would say that even YT system have huge externalities which are really ignored to make that working. Hard to find an happy life when you're smart enough and have too much ethics :/ The outspokenness makes that channel great.

Reminds me of when I used to work at a call center, over 10 years ago, that was supposed to "help" Verizon customers with their internet problems. They were all about getting call times short. I think under 5 minutes. Had to do that to get your bonuses and for your manager to get his/her bonuses.I don't know how many people I had call in and say, "Please don't hang up on me like the last few people." We would get older people and some people that English wasn't their first language and it took more time to help these people. I also felt bad hearing that so many people hung up on them or "got disconnected during a hold" so I made extra sure that I would solve their problem. I would say 99% of the time I did so. I saw some of my coworkers get frustrated with people that needed that extra time cause of a language barrier or cause the older people (mainly seniors) weren't used to the technology and say they needed to put them on hold and then drop the call on purpose. Made me so angry. I would then get my manager coming up to me and asking why my times were longer than others and that I needed to get my times under 5 minutes. I said cause we are in the customer service industry and are supposed to be helping these people solve their problems. I said go look at my % of resolved problems compared to everyone else and then tell me I am doing a bad job. I said I don't care about your bonuses. I was hired to help people and that is what I am doing. The manager never bothered me again, but I just got tired of it and quit about a month later. The things people do to others for bonuses is scary

Everyone has something in their past they aren't proud of. The fact that you are able to come here and publicly discuss why you feel bad about it shows me you've learned from your mistake. As long as you are moving forward, sometimes you take the high road, sometimes you take the low road, and I personally hope that at the moments you look back on the road traveled, the highs outweigh the lows. Keep making the great videos, I just started getting into Magic and have loved your views of things!

I'm glad you are coming forward with this story. I suspect this kind of thing happened a lot more than anybody realizes. The whole process was lacking care for the customer and a desire to maintain your business name. It was basically do something devious to get a short term payout. It's too bad that happens, but yes it does happen and customers need to be aware. I hear you mention the Federal Reserve a lot, and you obviously know about the flow of money and financial systems. Love you Rudy. You bring me great joy and great information. I work in psychiatric care. Inpatient. Our company benifits from denying sick people the help they need, which could be easily afforded if not for the numbers looking bad at the end of the fiscal year. In my country we are socialist democrats or whatever. So the majority of healthcare (like where I work) is state owned. So they’re not supposed to turn a profit. They still want to turn a profit. And it’s always to the detriment of the patients and to a lesser extent the staff. They force us in to impossible situations where somehow, probably because the patients are some of the most awesome people in the world, we make it work. I don’t know... most of your videos resonate well and I apply some to how I view my surroundings... Well, back to sleeving my 2017 commander set (all 4) and maybe get some sleep. Again Rudy. You rock. Love you.

It's great to hear you telling all this, should make us more alert to these kinds of things and, for those who were oblivious to it before, realise who are some of the predators in society. It doesn't alter the fact that that was completely %#£€@ up. And just like I can be flagged for using swearing here, I'd be invited out if I were to go to the bank and protest in the same terms, it should revolt us all. Assuming this whole story is real, having this haunting you still today shows you at least care about it, but it doesn't change that fact that you, like many other twisted people, did it. It's morally and should easily be legally condemnable.

Well put Rudy. I want to show this video to my wife. She doesn't understand Magic the Gathering or your channel, but she had similar feelings while working for the bank she worked for doing very similar shady shit. Luckily she was able to leave on her own terms when we decided to have kids and it wasn't her main source of income. I am sure there were parts of your job you loved and I am sure it felt great to make a customer feel great about their investment with you while at the same time providing you with a nice commission. It sounds like you had figured out what you were comfortable with in your soul and you gave the world of Wall Street greed the ole college try. Now you can use a Black Lotus for a coaster. The Wolf has spoken.

Been following you the last few months. AMAZING CHANNEL and its like I'm watching a far cooler version of my cousin who looks identical to you. Like I think you would flip at the sight of this Timmy. Started watching EVERY ONE of your videos in chronological order. Your story is destiny... URZA's Destiny!! XD Just getting back into MTG. Now that Iam older and never owned a video game console after the PS2, I have an old nostalgia itch from my past. However brief it was. Antiquities, Unlimited, revised (only when Unlimited cards in NM aren't available) Alliances, and all 3 URZA's blocks are what I've been fondest of. Old cards. I wasn't around at the beginning. I quit MTG in 2000 after only playing in 6th grade bc i was too young to appreciate or really just understand the game. Plus, it was cooler to be a "skater boy" (shout out Avril Lavign) I only had like 2 friends that played it. I turn 30 on the 21st - Mayan doomsday date ; ) I've bought strictly reserve list singles from Card Kingdom, only in NM condition (I want a complete Antiquities and Urza's block's Reserve List Set. Also been buying booster packs of Alliance's and URZA's block from only established sellers on ebay. Ive been on ebay for over a decade, so quite attune on how to choose the right sellers. So far, every pack passes the eye test after a good WIGGLE AND TIGGLE. YES , I SAID WIGGLE AND TIGGLE.... Thanks for the term Rudy ; ) If they were repacked all this time when I go to sell them in 20+ years, so be it. I got them lying flat in Ziploc bags and stored in a cool dark place. And my binders hanging so the pages dont get pinched. People want the sealed product. LONG LIVE THE RESERVE LIST!! and S.W.A.G: Silver, Wine, Art, Gold... not a wine drinker but its about tangible wealth.... cardboard canvas's... and a little thing called: blockchain . IT IS why 5G is being ushered in. Giggity!

This is definitely some of the more solemn content on the channel. Most of us should be aware that this kind of practice exists, and in most professions. This isn't my attempts to justify the practice but if you are yet to encounter something morally questionable in your career then start bracing yourself for it. It certainly doesn't make you a bad person. I'm very curious to know the company, though I realize the complications in mentioning it. Would I be right if I were to think this group have featured before in your content, in the form of a logo embroidered on a shirt?

I'm glad you told the story and I appreciate your honesty. However I don't think it was a gray area so much as it was just an outright wrong thing to do. It is a good thing that you feel guilty about it and that you left the company. You're conscience is clearly intact. Maybe you need to do more for yourself in the way of getting it off your chest. I don't know what that something is. I suppose this video was a first step towards it. Either way I will continue to be a subscriber. It's easy for a person to speak about their achievements but it's not nearly as easy for someone to discuss their faults. I still respect you.

This story sounds all too familiar. Used to work for a big chain pharmacy retailer which started implementing mandatory patient enrollment programs under the guise of "medication compliance" and overall "wellness" but it was essentially just to make sure every possible presciption was filled to make the most money possible. As pharmacists, we were bullied into these practices by fear of loss of job or demotions to less hours or movement to remote locations. Greed by people at the top of these companies are ruining the practice and forcing good people into becoming shady salesmen.

Kudos for owning up to this Rudy, it really takes more guts than most people will ever have to admit to something dark of which you're not proud. There's no practical way of reparations and even attempting to do so would burgeon into a legal nightmare where only real winners are the lawyers. Therefore the practical takeaway is what people should try to get out of this video. Viewers might advise your older family members and friends about what kind of tactics may be used to swindle them; there's a lesson here that's worth sharing because you should never assume that those you know will realize they're being scammed. Wells Fargo just got fined for having salespeople who opened accounts for customers without the blessing or knowledge of those customers; and fees where collected on those accounts as well. This is a tactic that isn't going away. The only misleading part of this was that 2008 was a dark time where ultra-shady stuff happened but now things are better, its only gotten worse.

Survival of the fittest folks..Moral of the story here is don't be gullible. No excuses.. You can talk what's morally right & wrong all day, but the sharks that do this don't have any, they prey on weakness and gullible people, so it's always gonna happen. Until Capitalism is abolished, likely never, the only way to real wealth is exploiting others... Other than that, best MTG channel on the youtubes!! Keep up the awesome vids Rudy! Rudy, at least you are honest about it. At least you know it was wrong, admit it to yourself, and use that knowledge to improve yourself and your effect on the environment surrounding you. Many are incompetent of their incompetence, and fail to admit to themselves their shortcomings. I'm not 100% proud of everything I've done, and by bringing your behavior to light, you act as a muckraker so more people know to avoid the scheme in the future. Plus, people should be competent enough to not fall victim to a tactic rooted in pathos. I'm not saying it's ethical, but the weak of mind do not prosper in the free market.
