Getting an STD doesn't mean you're a bad person, a slut, or unlovable. It just means you have to be more careful, and ignorance is no excuse. After today's video, you will have a resource for STDs as I am going over common STDs, signs & symptoms, and what you should be looking for so you don't spread it.
STDs range from parasitic to bacterial to viral. Crabs are a parasite and also classified as an STD. Bacterial STDs can be treated with medication, but viral STDs stick with you. Don't be ignorant as STDs are a reality. Protect yourself -- you can abstain or use a condom. Make sure your partner has been tested; you owe it to each other to stay monogamous and healthy.
THE PARASITIC STD
Crabs make you itch like CRAZY (next level itchiness). They are not necessarily sexually transmitted, as you can get crabs from sharing towels, bathing suits, sleeping in another place, and more. Symptoms appear in 5-15 days, which it could be spread during that time. Getting rid of them is fairly easy.
BACTERIAL STDs
Chlamydia is the most common STD spread currently. Symptoms are different for men and women, which for men, Big Al may seem fine for months until symptoms start. Between that time, Chlamydia could be spread. It is diagnosed with a simple urine test and then treated with medication. You should be tested once a year.
Gonorrhea is a bacterial infection. Men experience an urgency to pee, discharge, and swelling. The downside to this STD is that it can have long-term effects on fertility. Getting tested is critical because you may have no symptoms and could be spreading it.
Syphilis is what Al Capone died of. It's a bacterial infection that starts then goes away. It comes back with other symptoms, concluding with brain damage. The best rule of thumb is to get checked.
VIRAL STDs
HPV (aka warts) is contracted by 80% of sexually active people at some point in their life. Having HPV doesn't mean that warts will be present; the majority of people who have HPV show no symptoms. For most people HPV is no big deal (I have the virus). It's more dangerous for women because it's linked to cervical cancer. Another downside is how the HPV virus is linked to oral and mouth cancer.
Herpes has two types (Simplex 1 is associated with cold sores, which I have but I have never had a cold sore; Simplex 2 is associated with genitals). The most common time to spread herpes is prior to an outbreak, and keep in mind that Simplex 2 can spread from the genitals to the mouth. Suppressive medications are available
HIV is incredibly dangerous, but treatment options are plentiful. One of the fastest populations of people becoming infected are heterosexual black and Latino women (caused by men being with other men then bringing it to women).

You forgot to mention that in for most people HPV gets cleared by their bodies within 2 years, often causing no symptoms at all and sometimes causing warts or papillomas. It's only when the body doesnt clear it for some reason that after many years it can cause cancer particularly cervical cancer which in 80% of cases is caused by HPV

Everyone talking about monogamy missed one of the key points in the video. Many of the women testing positive thought they were in monogamous relationships. Not to sow distrust, but you only know what you're doing and what your history is. You can only go by what your partner(s) tell you their history is, unless you go in together for couples testing. Asking someone's history or when they last tested doesn't give you very useful information unless they have had no new partners since their last test and the partner(s) they had since their last test have also not had any new partners. Just test regularly and get vaccinated against hepatitis and HPV. Very few people use condoms for oral sex, so swabs along with urine and blood checks are important as well.

My sister’s husband (now ex-husband) infected her with chlamydia when she was pregnant with their second child. Two rounds of antibiotics before birth, one round after birth, and a newborn having to receive antibiotic treatment. BTW - ‘Dad’ abandoned the family before her birth. Fast forward a half-dozen years, and this child was suffering from eye lens issues (scarring from the infection). She’s had continual eyesight issues and will inevitably have her lenses cleared of cataracts that are developing decades before they normally would.
