Okay so... about Berdly Berdly is not just some nerd with a god complex. He's a kid who accidentally hinged his entire self worth on a skill that he does not have, and now that the illusion is fading he's frantically scrambling to protect his ego. The second someone shows any kind of acceptance for him that doesn't involve his academic performance; he stops acting cocky, because the only reason he was acting that way in the first place is because he needed to keep up the appearances that he was the smartest because he thought that was the only way anyone would ever acknowledge him. His relationship with Noelle only emphasises this further, because Noelle knows that Berdly's intelligence is all talk and yet still stays his friend, the only conclusion Berdly can come to is that she must have a crush on him. In Berdly's mind, the only way anyone could like him if they knew he wasn't as academically gifted as everyone is led to believe would be if they had developed romantic feelings for him. That is just really, REALLY sad. And that's why it kind of irritates me to no end that 90% of the fandom sees this really complex character and just instantly writes him off as "he's annoying and therefore I hate him end of story" If you read all this and want to hear a longer more in-depth character analysis of Berdly, go check out Dorked's video on it, it's really accurate and very well put together!

With the implications about alternate realities and imagined worlds in Deltarune… I feel like that might actually be something to keep in mind, not just a tease reference.
