Actually, the final boss, Polygon Man, was initially meant to be the mascot for the PlayStation 1. His design was supposed to show off the PlayStation's graphics. He was scrapped because he was too scary looking. They brought him back as the antagonist of this game.

In terms of goals PSASBR is really similar to that game. You hit the opponent until your meter is fully charged at which point you use insta kill moves to get points. The difference is that is 3D with a light/heavy attack combo tree system and this is 2D with 3 attack buttons.

Kratos is sort of the Melee Sheik to Kat's Melee Fox. While Kat is overall the best, Kratos's kit fucks the most characters. Similar to how Sheik basically +3s 2/3rds of the cast but has losing Matchups while Kat doesn't win against everyone as hard but doesn't really lose to anyone. Although I vaguely recall her actually having a losing MU to Kratos? It's been a very long time.

I will give Not Smash Bros. this, it's neat that the stages themselves also feature crossover interaction. I mean, how cool would it be if you were fighting on, say, Norfair, and Groudon appears in the background to fight Crocomire and their battle is causing the lava to pour onto the stage, or you're on the Fire Emblem Castle Siege stage and suddenly a Reset Bomb from Kid Icarus: Uprising crashes down on the battle in the distance, and other such crazy interactions.

Crash, Spyro, and a lot of absolute musts were missing but I enjoy almost every franchise featured. And I don’t understand your point implying that an MGS character doesn’t belong in this? MGS1 is a PS1 exclusive and one of the defining games of the console, MGS2 and MGS3 used to be PS2 exclusives and were defining games of that console, and MGS4 is exclusive to the PS3 and is a defining game of that console. That’s not even mentioning the collaboration with Ape Escape, the 3-4 PSP games, and so on. I’d say Snake and Cloud being in Smash are way weirder. Your points on connection issues and balancing are totally accurate though.

I can still get a match occasionally, however it can take a while and you end up seeing a lot of the same people. I was hoping he would show an online match though. It would have been hilarious to see him jump into a match and be placed against 3 level 999 players and get 3 stocked in under a minute.

I just recently (3 weeks ago) heard the stage soundtrack for this game, and I gotta say, it's pretty fantastic. All 16 of them are gold, and the only part of the game that doesn't feel halfassed in the slightest.

Akeem Perez Bullshit, alot of characters in the game are broken as all hell- specially Kat and Krato's. The fact that people defend this atrocious peice of crap is sad, if you can't even balance out the fighters- let alone find glitches in a character that ruin the fun of the game, you shouldn't be a game developer of a fighting game...hell game developer in general.

The final boss was an idea that playstation wanted to be the face of ps2 for some reason, they thought it'd be funny to make him the final boss in this game, his only appearance was in a demo disc. This game is so fucking awesome. I remember playing with my friends like as a full party free for all. Kratos might be op for beginners, but when you hit him, he loses his ultimate points and you can steal them. And you can dodge ultimate finishes too. I used to play Nathan and the kill zone guy. If anything, the kill zone guy and nathan have the hardest finishes to dodge. Since one is instant and the other has a weird pattern.
