His final 3 flip/spin mechanics don't have a set order. You could get 3 earthshakers or 3 lightning storms. The only thing set is the 2 mechanic combo always has northern cross added (ice/lightning is terrifying to handle)

Third phase info is inaccurate. It randomizes the first flip/spin and determines earthshaker/thunder depending on that variation.

Lightning targets the dps only when it does 4 markers. It is Akh Rhai not Akh Rhal. Same issue from shinryu. Ice puddles target healers only on the 1st northern cross...only during exaflare/Akh Morn does it target other players

you want to provoke and shirk during the cast. When the cast bar is going off the boss has already chosen it's target for the attack so it's safe to swap during then

Great guide! I wish i can do savage again but savage raid becomes the home of game elitist on this game. People are parsing and if they see your dps isnt all that great they give you shit for ot even though youre doing the mechs really well. Happened to me in o9s a couple times when i was trying to get a clear. I didnt even die during the while fight, even though we got a clear, the healer who was parsing was giving me shit for only having 5k. I know i have to improve my dps, im still new to raiding and to the game in general, but that is why im hopping in with pugs in savage raids to get better. But the more you join the clear parties the more you get discouraged to do savage raids anymore it is sad.

Mike Palko true but the thing is idk if people who are recruiting will accept people who arent putting up good numbers as well. A lot of them want yoou to show your logs aka ‘resume’ which is actually kinda funny and weird because this is just a game. The community in ff14 if youre doing casual content is actually great but once you hop in these savage raids that’s where and when you will see the darkside of the community. It’s all about numbers and colors of your dps, savage raids are fun because it challenges you but if youre dealing with people full of drama its not fun anymore.

some quick tips maybe: -improve your gear. look up a BiS guide for your job/playstyle and get the gear that has the highest numbers in your job's most important stats. don't just go buy a full crafted set somewhere; it's often not worth it unless u pentameld it fully. -Learn party buffs. This is often the biggest issue with PF. people tend to watch their own CDs only. The biggest DPS increase in this game is stacking party buffs like trick attack, dragon sight, chain stratagem etc. on top of each other and then bursting your highest attacks in that window. -don't focus on % in FFlogs. This can highly depend on your party skill and composition. I used to be 95% avg on my job, now I'm in a different party with less party buffs and can't get past 75%. (u can use this as an excuse if people are bitching about your deeps btw; it's more then likely true) -try the dummy to see if u can beat it without food/pots/party. If u can't when your min ilvl, then u should work on your rotation a bit more. Best use the same one as u use when raiding, because some jobs can "cheat" a bit since the dummy fight is 3mins long. -as said above: the best place to learn is in a static; that being said, getting a good static is a work of patience and dedication. I raided for 4months before getting picked at random by someone and ended up in a static clearing UCOB (after months of training tho). -If u play a job with high DPS but no utility (Blm, Smn, Sam, sometimes Mnk as well if there is a brd) then I have some bad news for you. It is your job to DPS as much as possible, so people will judge u even harder. It's also harder to get into a static, coz most statics rather have utilities and stacking party buffs than having some guy just doing good dps. That makes perfect sense even if u reject the "my own dps is less because we don't have xxx in our party" argument; since depending on one guy for dps means u are royally F*cked if that guy dies. -lastly, your DPS number matters. U can say it doesn't, and u can play all mechanics perfectly; at the end of the day, when u hit the last boss in a tier (o12s now) u'll start to see multiple groups fail the DPS checks. This is just how the game works, and most groups/people judge u by the only metric they can see. People always get frustrated in savage, especially in the later fights, and the guy failing mechs (or the one having low DPS/HPS) will always be the first target to get rid of that frustration. The only way to limit the amout of salt is to play in a group of friends, play casual (a.k.a. don't focus on clearing all fights in a tier) or be a japanese dude... So, don't give up on savage if u really want to have a challenge in this game. Be patient, ask for help if u need any, avoid the Toxic dump we call PF and have fun o/

Elias VP i play as a drg, my first time clearing chaos i only did 5k dps, Im not wearing BIS, but i have a few diamond gear from previous savage raids. I tried the sea stone and sky dummy and were only able to get to 1% most of the time and sometimes beat it, and that was without dragon sight, only 1 battle litany, the only buff was blood for blood. When doing the chaos fight i was missing a lot of positionals during the the water and fire phase because i was playing it safe, also i was holding my jumps way too much because of the fear of getting hit by entropy or hit my party with it. Im not sure if holding your cooldowns affect your dps entirely though? Youre right dps is a must otherwise you will not clear the fight, but it is just a game to put pressure and start bitching if someone is not putting up good numbers. Someone has to start somewhere. And yes, I like being casual but whenever i play any game i want to get the best gear for my character. Im just raiding for challenge and the gear, I would love to have great dps numbers but im not focus on being the top performer on fflogs, all i want is a put up an average number so i can join raids and start farming for my main. ye, holding CDs hurts DPS, and if u hit 1% on your dummy you are quite low. My static cleared chaos during his soft enrage and i cleared all dummies incl. the last one (unless ofc u are talking about the o12s dummy, in that case you're good on dps). playing it safe is nice and all; but sometimes u gotta try and play risky. that's the best way to know where the limits are and where u can improve. Maybe one thing i forgot is that this game tends to reward u knowing the fights by heart. It makes your life a lot EZier (especially with positionals) if u know where u can stand at which point. After some time U'll get into a pattern and then you should be set for the rest of the next patches ^^ and the jap thing was a bit of a joke... but in japan, they have a serverwide strat for all raiders, and everyone knows exactly what to do and how. They're like a machine so their dps isn't that important (compared to western players where dps seems a requirement, even tho it's gotten better since HW. now THAT was a "git gud and DPS" shitfest) anyways; HF and GL o/

I heard this is the PUG nightmare, and now I see why. I felt OS9 had a great balance between mechanics and checks (for pugs), but this is seems just borderline insane. Fights like these would be so trivialized if tanks could just tank in tank stance.

Tank stance doesn't do as much as you would think, busters are very high damage and therefore you still need a proper mitigation rotation

I'm finding that it doesn't make sense to have tanks do Hot Tail with Crumbling Bulwark. Regardless of what tank I'm on, it seems to be killing me through it either way. Tried as DRK and stacked mitigation, and through Grit/Rampart/Blackest Night it did 179K damage with crumbling on. Feel like they don't want tanks to do it since it just hits harder with mitigation, at least that's how it seems.

Thanks for your hard work! One quick suggestion -- you might want to give an example for how to handle the hot tail+bulwark stuff. The rest of the guide was informative, but "do what works best for your group" without any suggestions didn't work very well for me, and I had to go look up another guide to figure out exactly how that was supposed to work.

Personally, I really enjoy the savages this patch. Healing has been an absolute blast through Suzaku EX and O9S and I'm really looking forward to running O10S. Granted, it has to be your thing and MMOs in general will typically lag a bit between major expansions. Having a solid group of friends is always the way to go with FFXIV.

Nah FFXIV is fine as it is. It's a MMORPG created around the mindset of people with work and real life commitments. So content is designed to be done in a shorter time-span. Cause of this for people with TOO much time this game gets stale very quickly for them. But for like me who actually work n whatnot, its absolutely perfect. Oh, and a wonderful amount of content to do with other folks who doesn't raid. So...For people with not alot of time but want to invest into MMORPG? Nah, its good. But for people who wants WoW level of Raid Progression/Mythic Dungeon difficulty? Nah, definitely not for them.
