I put mech sheets in clear sleeves and use dry erase markers. I fill in the heat sink bubbles in red as I create heat. When all heat sink bubbles are filled, I transfer heat overflow onto the Heat Scale, which remains for my next turn. I erase the filled in heat sink bubbles for the next turn. If heat sinks get destroyed, they get filled in with black for the remainder of the game. Heat overflow marked on the Heat Scale is in real time.

@@AlphaStrikeWePlay Preexisting heat is colored on the number box of the scale. Bullets or check marks are placed on the side of the scale for new heat build up. At the next heat phase, the new marks will be added or subtracted to the preexisting mark. Any effect at that new heat level would take effect.

I thought you only ever Sink an amount of heat equal to your Heat Sinks (plus modifiers). If I'm shut down with 45 heat, and I sink 20. End of first turn shut down, Im at 25 heat and can only start up on an 8+. If I fail, sink 20, at 5, and auto start next attempt to start up. At least, that is my understanding.

BattleTech is one of those games that is complicated in all the right ways. Complicated, but easy.

Indeed. Plus, once you are familiar with all the unit types there are a plethora of strategic options for play which is what we like.

So one thing I don't understand. So does the heat in the heat sinks reset every turn? Say I have 20 heat sinks, I use 23 heat in a turn. The next turn I keep the 3 heat on the effects chart but the heat sinks are back to zero. So now if I use 25 heat in the next round, I add the 5 extra to the 3 left over from the last round for a total of 8 on the effect chart? Thx, BTW, love the videos! They have been a tremendous help

You got it Tyler. Unless you choose to spend less heat than you have heat sinks your excess heat on the heat scale does not get reduced. Glad you are enjoying the videos too.

@@AlphaStrikeWePlay so does that means that like for example i have a mech that has 25 heat sinks, alpha striking with all the weapons only generates a total of lets say 15 heat points, plus walking or running or jumping, so does that means that my mech will not acumulate any heat at all during the entire game using those basic movements?
@AlphaStrikeWePlay6 ай бұрын
@@ShadrackMeduson That is correct. If your heat is less than your heat sink capacity heat is not an issue. Thanks for watching our video and taking the time to comment. It all helps people learn which is great.
