I personally think it is elegant and amazing !!! I have always loved Alphaville since I was a geeky teenager growing up in the '80s in a small American town where sophistocated european sounding music with synthesisers was QUITE UNPOPULAR. I always put them right up with bands like New Order, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Depeche Mode and many other brilliant pioneers of "electronic" music. This one is less electronic [sounding] w/ video reminiscent of silent film era SMASHING !!! Geniuses !!!

It's nice to know that someone else is as devoted as oneself, to a not-so-known jewel that is Alphaville. Cheers

Couldn't agree more! These guys are lyrical, musical and visual poetry geniuses (though I understand that most of the short films used as videos for songs that come from this album are from various filmmakers).

We are very alike in that respect, when I was a teen-ager I was listening to all those bands as well. I was one of the few in my high school that was into this stuff :-)

I bought this album when it came out, this is when I realized there was something besides heavy metal, Now I play in a Jazz infused Blues band. This whole album was great!

It was released in VHS for a project called Songlines by Alphaville in 1989... they choose 9 directors from different countries to make music videos for all songs from The Breathtaking Blue album. This one was made by Slobodan Pesic from Yugoslavia...

This one is a bit different than their other songs but i like it anyway especially the lyrics! I really think Alphaville was one of 80s greatest bands!!
