Favolosa band degli anni 80 che io ho conosciuto solo il 2 ottobre dell'anno 2021...che fortuna ho avuto quella sera nel vedere e sentire in televisione per la prima volta la voce di Marian e gli Alphaville!!!! Even though I'm aware of the atomic theme of the song, it always gave me a feeling (probably due to its romanticism and melancholy) of great inner peace, which sometimes meant the world to me. The first time I heard it, it felt like paradise - and I'm not kidding. I still love it (and the whole album). Thank you, Alphaville! A very nice performance, by the way. :-)

I think that type of thing is common especially if you first hear a song when you’re a kid or young teen. There are so many songs from the 70s & 80s that would make me feel good in different ways & then once I was an adult & listening to the song again, I realized what some of the lyrics meant. 😳

В моём понимании, главное при этом, чтобы прыгающий в пустоту человек сам не был пустотой. То есть человеку нужно знать себя и свои возможности и решиться их применить. Пустой человек (то есть не знающий своих возможностей), прыгнув в пустоту, рискует с ней слиться. Вероятно, ожидание и нерешительность героя песни связаны с незнанием или недооценкой себя. Песня очень красивая, мелодия - сама нежность. Но, как оказалось, песня совсем не про романтику, что удивило.
