Nice looking setup. Sorry to nit pick dude but your are not "stuck" with having the crossover slope on (6:30). You are right that you can't just roll the dial back to "slope off" you have to press and hold the "X-Over" button for 2 seconds. It's in the manual page 16, Settings/adjustments, step 6. It's a safety feature, presumably to stop anyone inadvertently blowing up their tweeters.

To set a filter back to off, all you need to do is hold down the x-over button for a few seconds

im sorry i never got back to you this is kind of a weird thing because the center channel can be changed to a second subwoofer channel. in order to set the H701 for two subwoofer outputs, go into the menu and tell the h701 to change the center to a sub it will show up on the H701 as two subwoofer icons at the bottom instead of a center at the top + a sub at the bottom then just use a RCA patch cable between the subwoofer amp and the h701 OR you can use a Y cable and not change the center channel

the power wire from the battery is 0awg copper welding cable i got years back. there is plenty of stuff on the market that is better, but it does work great. the signal cable from the carPC to the helix p-dsp is a parts express brand toslink fiberoptic 25 foot cable. the analog interconnects between the dsp and amps are emotiva audio X series RCA's. the speaker wire is 14awg dayton wire from parts express. all the cable i put tech flex and heat shrink on as i installed it. i do recommend it all.

they are doing real well, i ended up blowing up a pair on accident due to some equipment issues - but its been resolved and they are cheap tweeters - but they are really nice! new video with car PC up if you want to check that out.

Funny we have similar taste.. I just got a Mosconi 300.2 As and 200.4 AS... running pair of IDMAX 10s sealed off the 300.2 and some illusion C8 + C3CX combo on the 200.4.. the C3CX will retain their passives with rest being active and low end of the c3CX being cut off actively. Being a point source it will TA just fine as one speaker. Popular combo these days. Mosconi 6to8 for DSP.. the only sucky part is the factory radio for now.... can't make up my mind on that part.

ISEE YOU sounds like you've got a good setup. the illusion gear is quite expensive too. sadly my system got ruined in a flood while my car was parked in front of my house while I was sleeping and both my Mosconi amps and my arc audio ps8 were ruined. no.more stereo for me 😔

i bought the car back and i am rebuilding it in to a jetta wagon and swapping all the cool bits that i was able to salvage back. i have the amps and everything. the midrange and the midbass were flooded and they're toast. the amps and dsp were flooded, but still might work after i attempt to open and clean them. but that's a pipe dream i think. my R32 leather Konig seats were ruined too, plus all my wires are full of corrosion due to capillary action. check out my instagram for pictures @R4N63R :(

I just purchased A PXA-H701 and the RUX-C701. When using the center/sub RCA on the H701 along with the sub RCA, do they become L and R when connecting to the amp? Or do I just use the sub RCA out from the H701 and use a Y cable to the amp? Any assistance would be great as I didn't get a manual with mine. Thanks.

At 5:40 you say its important to use the same crossover to prevent phase change. Are you referring to the same slope? IF so you mean same slope on all drivers?

well I was a novice at tuning back then. I've learned that it is not important to use the same crossovers (slope or frequency) on any of the drivers if it makes it sound better.. with a change in slope comes a change in phase. this can help bring the soundstage up by bringing the left in phase with the right of whatever the situation. in a car this is important because we don't sit in the middle. in a studio I would advise against it because the speakers are equidistant from the listener, but in a car it's almost a necessity to have different points and slopes on each side to help shape the soundstage. I'm still a novice at tuning and I have a ways to go before I can consider myself good, but I've at least picked up some knowledge along the way 👌

Hey bud. question. I am running the same setup H-701 and RUX-700, the issue I have is not being able to balance from left the right. I am running a SS Picasso rubicon active with channels 1/2 woofer, channels 3/4 tweeters. any suggestions?

It was similar. Look @R4N63R on Instagram for more recent pictures. no more h701. No more 8's in the doors. Lots of performance mods and suspension mods. But I'm parting the car out now since the flood and hopefully building a new version with the remains of the old car.

how are you able to get volume control on the deck if you are running optical? are you also running the ai-net which gives you volume control? so audio signal via optical and controls via ai-net? hmmmm, i have the pxa h800 and have my eye on the same head unit. im assuming it would work the same way? currently i am running a cda 117 with ai-net to h800 but wanted to use optical for audio signal

Honestly I don't know why it worked. It also worked when I was using a carPC. Somehow the volume in windows also adjusted the amplitude in the h701 when I was using it that way. I did not expect it to work but it does. Currently I'm using Windows 8.1 carPC with the arc audio ps8 and I am still able to adjust the volume inside windows and it adjusts the optical volume. I can't explain why it works, but it did for me in both of these cases.

Bill William I removed the foam entirely yes. then I used some black high temp hot melt hot glue to keep them in place.

Doesn't the 9861 control the H701 fully? Just curious why the need for the H701 controller when using the 9861.

it can control the h701, but it's limited and slow, plus it's terribly difficult to change the volume or song while in the menu options for the h701 control, you've got to make a change, back all the way out to the main screen, then change the song or whatever, then go back into the options. plus, the small resolution screen on the 9861 is not even close to ideal for the options the rux-c701 can display. it's just much easier to tune in every regard with the rux.

How did you remove the flange from the vifas? They are awesome tweeters regardless of the price, but they are huge! Also how do you like the exodus anarchy playing up so high? From what I read, then seem to be better suited as a dedicated midbass.

pick tools, hobby knife, and patience got the flange of the vifa tweeters. they're twist locked, then glued into the flange. cut/chip the glue out and you should be able to get them out. the anarchies don't sound awesome in a 2-way configuration without the proper enclosure, and free air in the door is not the right enclosure. currently I have them in a very small sealed box in my quarter panels in a 3-way configuration as a dedicated midbass playing from around 50-250hz and they're sounding better than ever!

Tiago Annes i no longer have the 9861 and H701 combo. i also never had an apple device or cable to test an ipod\phone with - so unfortunately i can not help you determine weather or not the 9861 through-puts ipod input out through optical. im sorry dude :( as far as left ight balance @geoff coppin - as long as you plugged the output RCA connectors into the corresponding channels on the H701 and the amplifier - you should not have balance L\R issues. make sure your cables are connected to the right spots. id have to see a picture or a diagram of how you wired it to be sure. @andy reid - i used EMOTIVA AUDIO interconnects. they look good, and have nice connectors with little color-coded rubber bands that you can put on each phono connector to identify the wire. sonically? i cant tell a difference. they are well built cables. calais86 yes they become subL and subR when you change center->sub.

What a strange comment. When the H700 model came out in 2003 it basically blew everything else on the market out of the water. It may have single-handedly kicked off the whole high-end DSP market that we enjoy today. I still have mine and it still works like new. I guess this Puma guy is bitter or something.
