@bp71783 жыл бұрын
The size chat is BS because Alpinestars changes their fit. One jacket can have a race fit and be tight AF and the other be more relaxed and be the same size. Alpinestars REALLY needs to differentiate which products are relaxed and which are race fit. I tried on the Rideknit. It is very comfortable but doesn't feel all that protective compared to other jackets. With the super flexible armor I wish they'd use a CE 2 type which would be thicker and give that more typical armored feel riders are looking for but be more flexible. I don't think there a lot of chest perf because its meant for the Tech Air 5. The sleeves give you a ton of venting, more so than the non rideknit version which will benefit you if you run the airbag since the airbag by its nature wont flow air. In the tuck there isn't a lot of airflow on your chest anyway, so having more on the arms will help you feel cooler.

They are both compatible with the Tech Air lines. It has more to do with the amount of stretch built around the torso. While they use different mesh, they are both compatible with the airbags as long as you size appropriately.

That will depend on how your current size fits you in the Astars jacket. If its tight, you will likely want to go up a size to factor in the TA5. But if you are already fitting pretty loose in your current GP Plus R v3 size then you should be just fine.

I can't even imagine wearing anything like this jacket on the motorway in July! Any suggestions? Tips? Advise?

A well ventilated mesh or textile jacket should do the trick. A few options include the REV'IT! Eclipse Jacket, the Alpinestars Viper v2 Air Jacket, and the Dainese Sevilla Jacket. Anything with a textile infusion will do much better in warmer weather. Searching on our site under "Jackets & Vests" then selecting "Textile" in the drop down menu on the left will help narrow down the search for you.

What’s Rideknit and what’s it compare to? How on earth is it more expensive than full leather ? I’m so confused how is the regular version more perforated that sound ridiculous/counterproductive
@patrickmchugh80393 жыл бұрын
Rideknit is a type of stretch that allows airflow, allows movement in the riding position, while also providing some abrasion resistance. Leather isn't required at the inner arm since it isn't a high abrasion zone, hence why MotoGP riders have stretch in less prone areas too. We were pretty confused on the airflow of this jacket compared to a regular or perforated jacket from Astars, but unfortunately that is something we can't change without working for them. Adding different materials/fabrics is more expensive than leather because it requires a completely different/more complicated sewing and assembly process. But all leather wouldn't be great for a sport jacket anyway, so not their goal here. Hope that helps

@@Fee.1 I believe what we were confused about is why they would offer an Airflow and Rideknit version of this GP Plus R v3 side by side. The RideKnit flowed way more air and felt better / moved better etc. So it would've made more sense (IMO) to just run with the RideKnit version and ditch the Airflow model. I crashed into trees every weekend racing, so my memory isn't excellent, but I believe that was the conversation.

If these companies really cared about people they would add a back protector. It would be better to add the back protector and remove the shoulder and elbow if price is the issue. No one dies from hitting their elbow. Spine damage is a pretty big deal.

@@Krom1hell it’s the only body protection that matters. It’s what should be included. Yes, it’s laughable that I expect a company to do the right thing when it comes to safety rather than leaving it up to customers to buy extra parts.

@@zero11010 You know, in my Alpinestars you could fit the airbags (which has already an back protector) or you could fit under armor suit that meshes with the back of the jacket.....if somebody would pick one of those, that person would have thrown the D3O back protector to the dumpster :)......I guess it's quite fine how they are selling it. @zero110103 жыл бұрын
@@Krom1hell no one has died from hitting their poor little knee or banging their ankle. People do die from spine injuries. Also, the damage to your knee and your ankle have nothing to do with jackets which is the topic. I think all armor should be worn. But, including elbow and shoulder armor on jackets but not spine protection ... which is what nearly every jacket being sold today does ... is stupid. My suggestion to include spine instead of shoulder an elbow was a concession to jacket makers to keep prices at roughly the same price point. What percentage of riders have the air vest? Virtually none? Oh, that’s right. So, maybe include the spine protector for the majority of people who will purchase the product. It’s cool man. You don’t have to like the comment.

I know what you're trying to say, but if you buy a 500S jacket, that sells somewhere at 200-250$, those 30$ for a back protector is a joke.
