I just go the SMX-6 v2 … a step down … very comfortable, easy to put on, and comfortable to walkaround the convenience store … wow, you reminded me to check how with ride shifting gears … rode them with the Livewire and it was a blast

These boots look great, and the color contrast is simple yet very nice! I was wondering how easy these boots are to keep clean, or have you noticed any substantial fading or change in color in the time you have owned them? Thank you

They have been rock solid and pretty much look brand new. They are very durable. I simply wipe them down with a damp rag every now and then.

Great review! Why did you select these boots over the SMX V2 Vented boots rather than the Plus? How much of a quality difference in protection and comfort between the Plus VS regular V2? Is it worth the extra 100.00? I am trying to decide between the Plus and SMX V2. Several people report that the squeak, I did purchase the SMX V2 and I am waiting for the Plus to arrive and I am not sure which boot might be the best overall. What are your thoughts? Why this boot and not the Dainese's Torque 3 that is similar? Just like to know your thoughts. Thanks

Hi Paul, Sorry for my slow response on this. When I started looking for boots. I like the Dainese gear quite a bit .. but, decided to go with the Alpinestars due to my history with their track gear. That may change in the future. As for the plus vs the SMX2. I looked at both side by side and felt the SMX V2 was a better value. Also they did not have the "plus" in the color I wanted (I know that should not matter). I have seen the plus on sale from time to time... where the plus and the smx v2 were the same price. I'd recommend trying them both on. I really don't think you can go wrong either way.

@@CoachBob3 Thanks! Good point. I recently purchased the SMX V2 . I have not rode in them yet but they are nice. I was thinking I should have gotten the SMX V2 gore text boot. But don't know. Any thoughts about that one. And I guess you would gotten the Plus for the extra protection? I tried them on and they did not have the flexibility in the shoe like the regular one. Thanks

How tight should the ratchet be secured? I find making it snug restricts my ability to shift/brake as theyre a new pair, but I dont want to compromise safety. Not sure how tight theyre intended to be ratcheted.

I have them pretty snug. But.. the ankle flexibility and shifting gears is a real issue. I wish they had a small lip that would stick out at the soul of the boot that would assist in getting under the lever. Some other brands have that.. I would love to see A-STARS do the same. Look on the tongue of your 13 shoe and look for the euro size. It varies from shoe to shoe. That has been my issue with American shoe sizing. It is extremely inconsistent. Thank you for watching.
