FINALLY! I found a review that actually shows the LACK of protection for the ankle. I've seen and heard all kinds of reviews that talk about how great the protection on this boot is, but NOBODY ever demonstrates it. The second you folded that boot over I immediately concluded that it's all BS..... this is just another inadequate adventure boot with a lot of motocross "looks". It may be the most "protective" adventure boot, I won't challenge that, but it is definitely NOT what I consider to be protective enough. Thank you for being the ONLY reviewer I've seen that showed it plain as day! Kudos, mate!

My adventures have lasted 7 years still going, 5 days a week use , but only for commuting and dont walk far in them. Was considering the toucan to switch up a bit but ill go with adv2, thanks to you showing about the ankle. Years ago had a foot crushed hard by an errant motorist and ever since, boots are a top priority. thanks again

The Sidi Adventure 2s are incredibly stiff, difficult to walk in, difficult to shift with, and squeak like crazy. They are, however, waterproof and bomb proof. Mine rubbed against my ankles quite a bit, so they weren't the most comfortable (I needed to adjust the straps a bit more). I liked that they were fairly narrow since I have extremely narrow feet. They also have a great lug sole. I probably didn't give them enough time on the bike before I sold them.
@TwoWheelsDeep4 жыл бұрын
I see what your saying, I think they are stiff but still comfy. You can prevent squeak with a tickle of silicone spray now and again.

@@TwoWheelsDeep I'm considering either the Alpinestars Toucan or the Tech 7 Enduro Drystar. Both have been well-reviewed and seem to provide ample ankle protection.

@@TwoWheelsDeep I'm still unbelievably on the original soles. The metal toe caps are no longer with us and easily make contact with the road. I was going to get them resoled but they owe me nothing at this stage. I usually use other boots in the summer. They are still waterproof, but I'm not peddling through streams in them

Really good review mate! I have got the KTM version of the Toucan but don’t really like em so will check out the Sidi Adventures. Did you check out the Forma Adventure Boots? Any recommendations for trail gloves? Cheers👍
@TwoWheelsDeep5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tim for taking the time to post on my video. If the fit of the Toucans is bothering you I imagine they're too wide? If so the Sidis are a good bet, they're narrower in fit by a fair bit and they're not as 'frumpy' to walk in. I've had Forma Terra boots and I felt they were too soft, the Forma Adventure are way too soft..... In my opinion if you come off on a big bike and get your leg underneath as it goes down you'll be in trouble. I haven't these boots in my possession otherwise I could compare them for you. On gloves, I wear lightweight Alpinestars SMX gloves, the bar muffs let me get away with this even in winter. I also wear windproof zucci gloves that are for MTB use really, I'll get shot for fessing up on that one. I've not found a perfect glove!

Does it still make sense to go for a toucan over a Tcx Baja GTX or maybe a forma Adv Hdry ? & yes btw, the toucans can be used with a MX pants & we can enjoy some dual sport riding in them ? It won’t look weird with a MX pant ??
@TwoWheelsDeep4 жыл бұрын
Depends what you want from a boot, the tcx and especially the Forma are 'soft' boots, they haven't a great deal of support, but they are (probably) more comfortable out the box, I've a pair of Forma Adventure to try at the moment, they are very comfortable! I think the Toucans will look OK with an mx pant and they're kinda mx styled, just not as high with less reinforcements. You're asking a guy who doesn't really care how he looks! Toucans and sidi adventure 2 are some of the best all round boots I reckon for comfort, protection and they're waterproof... To boot! I can see why the Forma Adventure get such a following, however they're more a well treaded road boot with a high cuff... I feel like I'm dancing with the devil wearing them, my ankles are scared for themselves!

@@TwoWheelsDeep LoL. True said brother. I am confused between few brands cuz AS have a good R&D but as they get their products manufactured from many manufacturers outside Italy, heard that it’s getting manufactured now in China or Vietnam or somewhere. While Forma & TCX are being manufactured in Romania. I just need to make sure that the Toucan will hold up for a good time in both touring & mild offroads for a couple of years & can give good protection while looking good too. 😎

Nice review. Thanks, Which gives more protection to the medial part of the lower leg?
@TwoWheelsDeep3 жыл бұрын
I'd have to give it to the sidi as the ankle support covers and protects around the medial malleolus whereas the alpinestars is just fairly unprotected in comparison there. Both boots are otherwise just thick rubber/microfibre martial around the rest of the leg in this area. Better than nothing but not as solid as a mx boot. Does that help at all?
@joemartin73323 жыл бұрын
Yes. Thanks. Sounds like neither protect the lower leg very well. I was injured by the foot peg in the lower leg.

If you’ve got wide feet go a full size bigger than your shoe size, if you’ve normal feet, half a size and narrow Italian feet go for your normal size. I’m no expert mind. But they are slim fitting!
