GIVING Salam is not among the Rights of a Muslim but RETURNING Salam is as far as i can remember? If this is true then ya sheikh you need to relax a little with Muslims.

He's not saying it's haram he's just saying what's happened to Muslims salaaming eachother, there's great benefit in saying Salaam first and there is even greater benefit in responding with the lengthier salaam. Allah knows best. The Sheikh is just reminding us do not lack in something that is beneficial to us as Muslim but is also part of our Muslim identity ...

The Prophet said that the rights of a Muslim upon a Muslim are six: "When you meet him, give Salam..." (Sahih Muslim) Yes, obligation according to many scholars is to respond, but describing giving Salam as a right is correct, as the Hadith mentions that explicitly.
