@g1camuschy9 ай бұрын
The truly heartbreaking moment is, in episode 2, when Fern tells Frieren how she met Heiter: an orphan in a war torn country, trying to kill herself. It's also at that point that you realize, that Fern is so good at concealing her mana, because it's the first thing she tried to do on her own. In order to survive, she had to hide from demons, wich are skilled at mana control/ mana detection. Frieren is by far, the best anime of the last decade and one of the top 5 of all time.
@lelouchlamperouge30779 ай бұрын
I tried to visualize what Frieren saw and feels, suddenly... *EVERYTHING BECOME SO SLOW.* Everything feels like fleeting dream...I feel like the one who observes the whole universe. Not the one who lives in it. Saw first 2 episodes months ago, and *I CRIED SO MUCH* I don't even dare to watch the rest of the anime. 😭😭😭😭 And yeah, Himmel ALWAYS loves her, till the end of his life. Yet, she simply can't perceive it...

You definitely pronounced the name right, don't worry about it ❤ Good catch, Magy, this anime really gives off the feeling that "it's beginning from the end". You can already notice how Frieren sees the passing of time so different from her friends "It was a mere 10 years adventure". It really hits you as hard as possible from the first episode - seeing Himmel dying, Frieren's regrets over not knowing him better, Reiter's proposal and wise words for her - what a fantastic first episode. Your thoughts and impressions about the first episode have been so heartwarming to hear, can't wait to see what's coming next! "Time passes so fast here" - nobody could've said it better, Magy, well done! Seeing Reiter bedridden like that, the effect it has on both Frieren and Fern - it just hits you in the feelings over and over again. Himmel had such an impact on both Frieren and Reiter - it's beautiful, the little ways in which we're being shown that. Reiter tricking Frieren into training and taking Fern with her was incredibly heartwarming. Finally finding the blue moon weed and feeling like she honored Himmel's request - what a beautiful scene. This is an incredibly emotional anime and it's also satisfying at the same time. Thank you for starting this journey and for this amazin first reaction to it ❤

I just discovered you guys, and yeah because of Frieren. If you continue watching this show you'll see a wonderful, beautiful, life-changing journey. A couple things to help. The dates are now set to "after the death of Himmel the Hero" - always pay attention to that, as it sets ages and other critical time factors. As an example, Heiter and Himmel were probably in their teens to early twenties when they started their quest to defeat the deamon king. Add ten years and they came back in their upper twenties to early thirties. Skip to the next era meteor shower and add 50 years, so they were in their upper seventies to early eighties. Then start counting from there. Twenty years later she began Fern's training while Heiter was in his upper nineties to early 100s. Six years after that, Himmel had passed on, and a fifteen year-old Fern joined Frieren on her journeys - at twenty six years after the death of Himmel the Hero. So like I said, always watch those time markers, as they will be yourrefuge when questions of who and what and especially when become confusing. Almost every person, place, and monster name is in German, and gives a hint as to the nature of what is named. There's another reactor who is a native German speaker and produced a video discussing the translations from the first cour of season one. So once you've completed the first 16 episodes, I think you'll find it worth your time to set aside the three hours to watch it. He's really insightful. I didn't start watching until about episode 10 or so (being out I mean), but after episode 1 I realized that the massive hype was well deserved. This anime isn't exceptionally unique in an action or story sense exactly, the attracting part of it is that it tells the story of what happens after the 'demon king' style of adventure. Something we rarely see, and if we do see it, we don't see the long-term effects afterwards like we do here. Such an amazing anime, I'm sad season 1 is almost done airing, but I do know we have a LOT more that can be adapted and season 2 is all but confirmed iirc.

It's easy to get attached to the hero party because you've seen them and their journey 100 times. You know these people. And while we might not know what it's like to be an elf, the passage of time and the inevitable changes it brings is something everyone understands.

@cinegamerstv46199 ай бұрын
Better bring the tissues for the entire series, you're going to need them. As the episodes go by, you will love Himel more and more, it really is an anime that hurts every chapter and makes you reflect.
It's the music. I'm telling you. It's about 30% the scene and 70% music that makes this show so moving. Just listening to some of the songs by themselves is enough to start tugging at the tearducts.
@RobertLutece9099 ай бұрын
I agree with this. The way the music rises at jus the right time really makes it more emotional than it would have otherwise been.
@silas63289 ай бұрын
@@RobertLutece909 it does do that, yes, but I think it's more than that. The music stands very well on its own. I feel comfortable saying that even if I had never seen the anime, the soundtrack would still move something inside me. It naturally conveys emotion by its own means the way all great art does. That it is paired with MORE art at its peak just elevates the whole experience of the show. In what other universe watching what other show would you feel yourself getting choked up the moment the protagonist finds a simple stash of flowers on top of a tower? The music elevates the simple banality of an event to aid the audience in feeling the significance of that event to the protagonists. As an example: even though Frieren doesn't feel emotions the same way as her companions, it is clear that she still feels a sense of wonder in exploration of the unknown. The sequence immediately following the disbanding of the company of heroes in the first episode is the perfect example. Frieren still looks in awe at the cave depths, still enjoys lying in a bubbling stream, still derives satisfaction from napping on top of a fluffy, placid bear creature in the middle of the day and it is the music that let's us know all of that. In Fern's battle against Lugnier, her face seems emotionless because she is deadly focused. Every spell, every defense, every counter attack shot off from pure twitch reflex and instinct. But inside, even though she thought she would die if she had this fight, she revels in this dance of death that she has LITERALLY been training her entire life for.
@drachepumpernickel70568 ай бұрын
A little detail to note. As the show goes on, the timeskip get shorter and shorter, signifying frieren's mindset coming down closer and closer to a humans. Initially 50 years passes in a blink, then 20, then a few, then 6 months, and so on. They don't explicitly tell us this, but they show it. She's trying to understand humanity as a whole better, and Himmel specifically. We also see how one man's actions have affected so many people and sent ripples out that we still see long after his death. It's the small details that is the true masterpiece of this show. They are capable of epic fights and stuff, but focus the animation on the small details everywhere.
