@@Centane There's a cartel called the AMA which limits the # of care providers that can be certified to provide care in the USA. Guess who approves the creation of a new hospital? Existing hospital bureaucracies whose bottom line is undercut if they approve new ones. When government regulation is captured by business you get awful outcomes almost as bad as government bureaucrats deciding everything. Prior to the AMA (before it was called that) healthcare in the USA was the most cost effective, best growing technologically health main tenance system in history. When I was 8 or 9 years old, my dad came in to tell my little brother and me that there was an emergency and he and my Mom had to leave right away. We were already in bed and Dad said somebody would be in to check on us in a little bit. A few minutes after they left, my Grandpa showed up and came in to check on us. He told us not to worry about the adult things going on and to go to sleep. Everything was going to be just fine. I trusted him and went to sleep. Early the next morning, I went to the kitchen and my Mom was crying. My Dad took me to the living room and sit me down. Then, he cautiously told me that my Mom's Dad had died. My Grandpa. The one that sit on the edge of my bed and told me everything was going to be okay. He died about an hour before that conversation. Do I believe? Yes. Yes, some people absolutely do get visual disturbances and other sensory weirdness with migraines. :) Also, I don't believe in the existence of ghosts separate from the human mind. Which is not to say that they're not "real", in a sense. It's complicated.

I'm really pleasantly surprised with how you reacted to the embalming explanation! Everyone gets grossed out or find it creepy but you watched it with compassion and appreciation. It was lovely And yes, you can possibly see colors when getting a migraine. It's called an aura. I get aura before migraines too but my aura is like a small spot of TV static in my vision which eventually spreads everywhere. Then I go blind for a few minutes. Then suddenly its like a light switch flips and I can see clearly but that's when the migraine hits. For people like Liv and I its an early warning system for migraines and typically can give us some time to take migraine medicine preemptively.

8:30 I don't believe in it myself, but I understand the comfort that believing in that stuff can bring; I do enjoy listening to stories of others' experiences, watch paranormal investigations, and do go to 'haunted' houses/places. The way I see it is that everything being experienced is just the brain messing with you, especially if you go somewhere knowing it's 'haunted,' which is why I did try to get my sister when she was young to go on a house tour with me and my mom, but not tell her that it's supposed to be haunted to see if she would say/experience something.
@bujin1977Ай бұрын
I don't believe in ghosts. Never experienced anything personally to convince me. But a few people I know have had experiences which leave the door very slightly ajar for me. @lynetteoliva1256Ай бұрын
Chica, chica, chica, this is not based on a true story. It's very loosely based on author Shirley Jackson's book The Haunting of Hill House. The only things that are the same are main Character 1st Names, except for Shirley which was taken from the author, the last name Craine, Mr. & Mrs. Dudley who leave the house before dark & Hill House which may be haunted. A couple of quotes were also used. Mike Flanagan's version is a very different story from the book. Both deal w/whether/not hauntings are real or just psychological. In the series, Shirley is a funeral home director she has a prep room in the basement. It's where they prepare the bodies for viewing. It's actually quite common to have a type of morgue in a funeral home. I do believe in ghosts. Believe it or not, I've heard & seen them throughout my life. U asked who would take a picture of graves, I have. I've gone paranormal investigating w/a friend of mine.😊 THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE is my favorite out of all the Mike Flanagan Netflix series. O, 1 more thing, THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR isn't really a sequel. It's a different story w/different characters although Flanagan used some of the same actors. I will talk more on that one when u get to it. I really enjoyed your reaction & am looking forward to ur reaction to the next couple of episodes.😊

One of my favorite shows of all time. OF ALL TIME! I look forward to seeing the rest of your reaction to this masterpiece. I don't believe in ghosts myself, I'm a materialist, I think the physical universe is all there is. But I love ghost stories, I do WISH they were real, because the world would be more interesting with ghosts and magic in it. Finally, it always bothered me in episode two when Shirley is all like "You have to get two men to an airport, get it done!" like it's just a simple thing. I know it doesn't sound hard, but like, does she know how many people live in LA? It's a LOT of people. Like seriously a lot. Trying to locate one person in that city with no clues or leads on where they might be is like being told to go catch a particular fish in the ocean.

Steve clearly saw Nellie's ghost. He's seen other ghosts, too, he said, except he doesn't believe any of them are ghosts. Remember how his parents had raised him to be a skeptic. "There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy," says Steve, presumably about the Gospels Mrs Dudley mentioned. However, that's rather ironic because in Shakespeare the line means that Hamlet has a deeper understanding of humanity than Horatio's classical knowledge and commonsense can explain. This is what Mrs. Dudley was getting at in her rejoinder to both Olivia and Steve. The Dudleys obviously "know." Kudos to this reactor for properly recognizing that Hugh did the right thing making the safety of the children the priority on the "last night." Any parent knows that the kids come first in situations like that. Strangely, the adult Crain children don't seem to realize that. Steve certainly blames and resents his dad for leaving his mother behind. Also, the children blame their dad because they had to go live with Olivia's sister, their Aunt Janet. Evidently, somehow, she was able to convince a court Hugh was an unfit parent. Course, Hugh isn't exactly a fan of Aunt Janet, either. Clearly, the Crain children are psychically connected, they all woke-up at 3 after the hour, significantly, clutching their throats. We can also safely assume the things the Crain's see are real because both Shirley and Theo heard the banging on walls. Also, all the kids hear the spectral dogs barking. So far, we know Steve and Shirley she ghosts. We also know Shirley's dreams and sleep-talking give her a window into the spirit realm. So, we're not talking some sort of PTSD etc., here. Reactors really have to pay close attention to the details in the episodes. The details and events are all interrelated and interconnected and are important in explaining the end result. For example, consider the parallel between the diseased 5 kittens and the 5 Crain children and the fact that two of the kittens were singled out. Also, the purple box which we saw 3 times. Some of the motifs in the series so far: The kittens The "Red Room" "Fixing things" "Time to come home" Time/Clocks - the sound of a ticking clock

You are going to _LOVE_ this show. Best thing I've seen on TV in 20 years. Btw, bring some Kleenex for the later episodes. _SO_ much more than a horror show. On the subject of migraines, over the years, I've heard some people say things about migraines as if they don't know what one is. I remember the broadcast team on a basketball game say that Michael Jordan played the game with a migraine. As someone who has _HAD_ migraines, I can tell you , that's 100% bullspit. It hurts to _BREATHE_ when you have one. There's no way in _HELL_ you're going to run, jump and do everything else required to play basketball. I _LITERALLY_ could barely see and had to feel my way to the bed to lie down. After about half an hour I could see again, but my head hurt so bad, it made me throw up....and _THAT_ hurt too. Thankfully, I only had them for a short time and they never came back. (knock on wood).

Having watched this entire series several times (and it is EXCELLENT btw) I can tell you two things I walked away with: I genuinely grew to love this dysfunctional messed up family. And I hate that house down to the marrow in my bones. Prepare to be surprised over and over again. Just saying. You are picking up a lot of details on the first watch that I did not. Brava! Oh you did this as a nursing assistant? Wow! So many reactors just get squeamish. I thought what she was doing showed great care and compassion. The idea for the Shirley Jackson novel came from an item about paranormal experiments. The novel is vastly different. It was originally made into a movie - "The Haunting" (1963) - never the 1999 remake - it would be cool for you to experience it, at some future date, so you could see the bits and pieces this show referenced - sort of like shout outs - from the original. This is also a homage to the original, old school idea of horror movies, not gore, but psychological fear, tension, and superb jump scare moments. This is also, of the first 3 Flanagan series, the absolute best - the Haunting of Bly - in my opinion - is just too long, too slow, for a small payoff in the end. Midnight Mass - I watched a few of the episodes, and stopped - maybe too soon, but I found it slow and tedious as well. The fourth by Flanagan - The Fall of the House of Usher, I have heard good things about, but have not watched it yet. In the US, $6000 a month for rehab is probably cheap. Nursing homes, assisted living, etc are very expensive as well $7000-$8000 a month is normal. Many Mortuaries in the US also conduct funeral services, organized and led by the mortician. Common. I hope you enjoy the rest of this series. It is time well spent.
