Alstrom Syndrome Left Him Blind | Brandon Schiafone

​Brandon Schiafone is one, of about 1000, people in known medical history to be born with Alstrom Syndrome. At a young age, this genetic condition took his eyesight and a good portion of his hearing. However, Brandon refused to allow his disability to be the defining attribute of his life.
Turning his losses into strengths, Brandon graduated with an honours bachelor in media communications from the University of Guelph-Humber and took little time shaping his future. Now, during the day, Brandon teaches youth, with disabilities, the skills needed to be an effective member of the workforce.

What is Speaker Slam?
Speaker Slam is Canada's largest Inspirational Speaking Competition. Where the skill of public speaking meets the thrill of competition. Our Competition features 10 competitors going head to head and heart to heart, to deliver 4-6 minute speeches based on a monthly theme with a chance of winning cash and prizes valued up to $5000. Our winners have gone on to get paid speaking gigs, TEDx talks and online notoriety.
