I often feel that Geoff and Layne eork in tandem, laying down the rhythm and bassline together. It's very obvious they know each other inside and out. As they have known one another since middle school, them two are the very foundation on all the incredibilities they all produce together. Members and guests.

What Anthony does is a lot of runs. That is what I have heard it called. Runs. And yes he sounds like a boy bander. To me the techno works perfectly in this one. It is needed for effect. I think the techno dub step is PERFECT. I also believe Geoff taught the beat boxer Layne I think. . .

As much as I enjoy the costumes and all, what I like best is believable, consistent acting. That's hard to do. There isn't a second in this performance that you don't see that Eli has his mind on mayhem. He's truly scary. And having been a fan back in the day, long before we even saw Eli look seriously cross about anything, it's a huge shift. Could be he always had those skills but the situation didn't pull them out. Seems to me, though, that there has been a gradual change, and with every one of these epic/warrior kind of videos, Eli has gotten a little more dangerous, pushed it a little further, and with this one, he's there 100%. Not crazy dangerous, like Hoist the Colors, just plain someone you never want to cross. Huge credit to him for pushing his acting skills as hard as he pushes his singing skills.

I really love to think they are slowly weaving a story throughout these songs that we will see more and more of as we go.

@@1MannzOpinion Yes - for the Post-Apocalypse vibe it is almost as if they lost Earl & J between "Warriors" and "Dream On". And "Dream On' was more thoughtful because of it. But now they've lost Omar and they are in super-protective mode. I also like that each video had a different locale. Ties in well with Geoff's line about 'find a home...' As if they fight for Friend/family and home. But the acting also conveys a bit of weariness about the fighting - especially in the way Eli ends the song.

In my opinion, Layne stole the show on this one musically. He really outdid himself here. Also, those sounds you said were not vocal, I'm pretty sure they are, just heavily processed. I could be wrong, I know VP has used sound effects here and there before, but I've listened to this a lot, and I think they're still vocal. This whole arrangement is fantastic. I still keep hearing new things, and like I said, I've listened to this one a lot.

So, someone in another comments section said that sound is acutally a sample that can actually be found as a loop in Garageband.
@hwyla4416 Жыл бұрын
@@katthor7311 Except that Layne is capable of 'synthesizer' sounds. He's done it before, even long ago. I was surprised to recently watch a new reaction to an old song ("a Crimpella") and he was making the synth sounds even back then. Also, we have quite a bit of 'synth' sounds in "Running Up That Hill" and their Shorts about the sounds of the Streaming Services. VP does make use of some effects, so it might be enhanced. But they seem to be very upfront about it if the sound is not voice-generated. Examples being the 'shackle' in 'Hoist the Colors" and the 'Goat Scream' in "Bruno" where they told their Patrons. Until a Patron comes out and tells us that VP did not make those sounds, I will figure that they did. Even if it required a bit of 'help' in Post.
@katthor7311 Жыл бұрын
@@hwyla4416 I agree. My opinion is that it is still them just heavily processed, until VP themselves says otherwise. I just put that out there that someone else had offered a thought about it, but the more I have thought about it, the more I was thinking that VP doesn't use GarageBand as far as I'm aware. Also, I love A Crimpella. 😁 They have always been so innovative.

It's pronounced more like Garjoola. It's an Italian name. And he was with VP in Golden Hour. He has a beautiful voice. And yes they're getting some trilogies going. Vikings 3 ? And is this Geoff's sexiest look yet? Jeez. I wonder if the odd sounds are just their voices being manipulated. I don't think they brought instrumentsin but what they can do on a computer now is amazing.

I totally agree with you regarding arranging vocal percussion! It’s amazing! I know I often react to the sounds Layne puts in a song and how good they fit. Sometimes I think that I would never have thought of them but they fit so well! Sometimes they almost are a given (but I wouldn’t have thought of them anyway). Like for example in “If I were a Rich Man/Girl” where he paints a picture of the stairs going up and down, and in “Waving through a Window” where branches are cracking in the forest.

You saw Anthony in Golden Hour. His last name is pronounced "gar-JEWEL-lah". Layne did make all those noises, but all of the guys have multiple tracks overlayed at times. Yes, Warriors and Dream On were both post-apocalyptic, with the zombie hordes just out of camera range while the guys sing to save themselves. Between the first two, both Earl and J. None were lost to the zombies, and they picked up Cesar and Omar along the way. However, by this time, they've become the bad guys, so we're not 100% sure what happened to Omar... 😜 The techno sounds you're hearing are distorted vocals.
