Dude, Altair and Ezio have equally large fanbases. The reason why you hear more about Ezio is because his fans are more vocal, or rather, crazy fanGIRLS :P. They love his Italian accent :P. Altair's fanbase on the other hand tends to consist of males who live their dream of being a badass assassin by playing as him :P (yeah, that sadly includes me xD).

Actually I admire admire Altiar more then Ezio in a way, never giving up the fight and all that. I haven't had the chance to play the first game but I did watch a walkthrough before AC2 came out so I'd have the story. While it should be noted that Altiar saved The Order from becoming Al Mualim's personal cult we should also remeber he dispersed it after abandoning Masyaf. Good idea at the time but by the 1400s a liabilty, Ezio moderninzed The Order.

I like him but in a not-crazy-bitchy-fangirl way. I prefer Altaïr because he was the first character of the Assassin's Creed's game that I played with. And he's awesome. Enough said.

@darks1deskill Altair died defending Masyaf from the Mongols. Before he did though, he gave his Codex to a group of explorers he had befriended so that they could start Assassin guilds in other countries. Altair Ibn-La'Ahad was 92 when he met his end. apart from ezio, Altair Ibn La'ahad already became a master assassin at his 17th age, apart from ezio he became an assassin at like his 20. and a master assassin on his age of 45. If you played all the games, Ezio admired Altair and looked up to him. A citate from Ezio: Altair. A master assassin from his 17th. How could a man gained such unlimited powers so young.

@yoshigoboom627 yes but Ezio eventually stopped, Altiar dove head first into the Apple. Doesn't make a bad guy but it does mean he let obsession consume a very real part of his soul, by the time he figured it out he'd lost his wife and a good thirty years. To he his credit he owned this mistake rather then run from it as most people would, by the same virtue Ezio wouldn't make the mistake to begin with.

It's entirely because you have 1 1/5th of a game to get to know Altair. There are many more games featuring Ezio, Ubisoft learned from feedback of Assassin's Creed that they needed to add more character to the game and os they created Ezio. Ezio has more character and it was intended this way, that is why everyoneloves Ezio so much. Also the storyline for Ezio's life is much more tragic, climatic and everything.

I have to say it. I am a girl and, personally, I think that Altaïr is better than Ezio. But it's true what you said, most of Ezio's fans are girls, because he is more handsome and, of course, his accent (which I find pretty hot, by the way). Still, Altaïr is a more badass character, therefore and in my opinion, he describes perfectly the life of an Assassin.

I think its the emotional appeal... Ezio was never really meant to be an assassin, he was pulled into it.. his father and two brothers are disreputed and murdered by treachery, he is forced to escape with is mother and sister... the girl he loves is married to someone else. He lets one Rodrigo Borgia live and he comes back and kills his mentor(Mario). The one other girl he cares about, Katrina, is married and doesn't love him. Overall, the Ezio saga is pretty sad.
