Also this song was written about a conversation between Mark and Myles about “god” and religion. Mark is a believer while Myles is at worst an agnostic and at best an Atheist (like myself) but they are able to have civil discussions about the subject because even tho Mark is a believer in a “god” he doesn’t like nor agree with organized religion. So if you ever take the time to watch a lyric video or just read the lyrics as you listen it makes a lot more sense! GREAT REACTION

As someone who grew up listening to Creed, I followed the lead guitarist (Mark Tremonti). He was the reason I wanted to play the guitar. When Creed broke up and they found Myles as a singer I was hooked immediately, AB has been my favorite band since. I love that the reason they have not performed this song is because of that High note for Myles, and after he hits it, Mark looks at him with the biggest smile! I love these guys!

Blackbird is one of my favorite tracks from any band. Anyone who has suffered loss of a loved one will get Blackbird a little more. Two side notes....1...the entire Albert Hall concert is available on Bluray/dvd....it is incredible and a must own for music enthusiasts..in part due to the superb orchestra...2.... if you like metal like you said you did...Mark Tremonti has a solo project called "Tremonti ".... it is fantastic musicianship...Not one bad track from Tremonti or Alterbridge!!!!

I still remember the first time I heard these boys. It was on some late night music TV show back in 2004 and they played the video for "Open Your Eyes" from the first album, it was instant love! Just seen them live for the third time about a week ago and they were as incredible as ever! They really are a very special band and the night was all the more significant because there were times over the last couple of years when I thought I'd never be going to another gig ever again.

Seeing the reaction to THAT note makes every "Words Darker..." reaction video priceless! Alter Bridge has been my favorite band since 2008 when I heard their Blackbird album for the first time. "Watch Over You" is the Celebrity Rehab song. It's also on Blackbird. There are so many powerful tracks in their discography. "I Know It Hurts" is a personal favorite of mine from the same album "Words Darker" appears on! I'd also highly recommend the guitarist's solo band, Tremonti! "Dust" is brilliant.

It is a B side track and man the emotion! This song is up there on the Epic charts! This and Blackbird got me through my deployment in Iraq. i've seen Alter Bridge 3 times, and got the oppertunity to meet the band a few years ago, they kick balls on stage but they are so humble and down to earth off stage.. I’d like to throw my vote for Alter Bridge Blackbird, either studio or Live in AMSTERDAM! DO NOT DO WEMBLEY!! The song Blackbird was written for a very close friend of Myles Kennedy the lead singer, who passed away from cancer as they were writing the album/song. I have loved this song since the very first note the first time I heard it and that was before losing my own mother to undiagnosed pancreatic cancer. She finally found out about it and less then a month later she was dead. I had been gone for years because I had joined the military but by that point I was discharged as a fully disabled combat vet, she died in 2018 at the age of 60. I got back home about 12 hrs before she died, she didn’t know who I was or anything (which I knew would happen because it’s not the first person I’ve lost from cancer) anyways sorry for the long comment. I consider Blackbird the “Stairway To Heaven” of my generation (I’m 35 so I wasn’t alive when it was originally released) also you should check out Mark Tremonti’s solo band Tremonti which is much more “metal” and influenced by Metallica and Mark’s love of metal!
