In the High Alentejo in Portugal, which extends along the interior Pinhal and the interior Beira, hides an exceptional horse, the Alter Real. Its history begins in 1748, when three hundred Andalusian mares and a few stallions will be moved to the Haras Royal in Portel of the Braganza family, to form the basis of the breed.
