Love the circles. And how it just melds into the paper. You have such a talent for putting these odd things together. They are just gorgeous. 🤗

I'm in awe of your eye for colors and contrast. I have a book that I've removed pages which I was originally using for another type of journal but after seeing this video, I've changed my mind. An art journal is now on my radar. TYFS. 🦋

I am so glad I started this book with you. It is a very positive thing to focus on amidst the stress of the outside world. I love to stay home and make art and quilt, so I will make the most of it. I have lots of art supplies, fabric, coffee, and toilet paper, so I am good. Your pages are looking great, Robyn!

You prompt so many people into spreading their art wings. I’ve got some bookmaking stuff coming in the mail because you showed with your passbook that, yes, it wasn’t so very difficult to put together a little book. I’ll explore making a book in those breaks from gelli printing. Fascinating to watch you put together this spread, I really benefit from watching how you do things and the choices you make. So many people would be too intimidated (myself included) to sit down in front of a camera and make art for public consumption. You are so generous with your time and techniques!

Robyn - about the transparent perspex/lucite blocks for your stamps which you said are expensive. I just go to a company that cuts acrylic sheets for all kinds of windows, shop signs etc. They always have cut off bits that they give me for free if I ask nicely. Just an idea for anyone to try. Great for putting gel plate on or mono printing too.

Hi Robyn, loving your videos..learning so much, and love your thought process. Just a quick tip..when you are sticking down tissue paper, calligraphy paper or rice paper, you don’t need to glue on the back. Just place the paper where you want it to be, then very carefully brush over the top with your glue..starting in the middle and brushing outwards. This avoids tearing, creases, bubbling, etc. The paper is so thin that the glue goes through and sticks beautifully. Just be careful to not over brush or load too much glue on your brush, as the paper disintegrates if you do this.
@RobynMcClendon4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sheryl, thanks for the tip, however, just an additional bit of my thought process... I purposefully glue like that because I don't care for the glue on top of my paper. If you noticed I put very little back on the top of the paper...lol you do have to be extra careful but I've mastered my technique so rarely have tears that won't reassemble once I get the paper down. I prefer a matte look on the finished work. Unlike many collages I see that extra layer of glue takes away from the organic look of the paper, you can see the film. However, that's my personal aesthetic, you can very well do it the way you've suggested and many do...Thanks so much for hanging out with me! :)

Thanks so much for sharing your process! I'm still busy trying to organize my tiny work space before I start trying to follow along with your projects but my heart is definitely there. (I've already ordered and received two bottles of Dick Blick matte acrylic Celadon paint, since you love that color so much … hoping that my gel prints will be up to par. I'm mostly a portrait painter but I've always wanted to do book arts and have so much stuff "hoarded" in my stash for those purposes.) Thanks again. I look forward to watching more of your videos and participating in activities you offer.

Was so excited to go visit my grandaughter and work on our altered books, while we watch Robyn. However, here in Ontario, Canada even though schools are closed for safety, my son who is a has a government job still works with lots of people - so to protect ME, my art date with my grandaughter is cancelled. Looks like we will be arting together by WhatsApp ! Have to get her parents to load your video for her because her parent control blocks won't let her open links or videos sent!!! We will ART, one way or another😎

It's so exciting watching you work. Your pages are absolutely gorgeous. I have one question, what do you think of using wallpaper paste instead of white glue. Any good?
@RobynMcClendon4 жыл бұрын
Traditionally before the modern PVA or white glues wheatpaste was used or like a wallpaper paste. If you are familiar with working with that glue I see no reason not! :)
