This deck is still fairly viable on a budget, you can swap the UR counter trap for a generic one and foolish burial isn't strictly necessary if you link with mermaid or the idol doll thing. running two of each ressurection trap can generate a loop for multiple turns that keeps your resources in rotation. the Dravidion and hexia loop pretty much removes the necessity of UR monsters and called by the grave (though it would be nice to have one or two of each). Kunquerry acts as a budget impermanence with the caveat of negating attacks instead of spells in that colomn, though I do run two of both. Cynet network is a cheap field spell you can run to recycle any monsters and boosts link monster atk by 300 for a small but appreciated buff

Konami's direction in turning this deck into combo is questionable. The main reason I fell in love with the deck was because of the slow methodical control game that starts to slow your opponent's gameplan as much as possible until you get into a grind game which Altergeist excels at. As it stands, you are more exposed to handtraps like Droll and Nibiru that you didn't care about before, but the advantage and amount of interruptions you get if you combo is like no other. The deck's main issue was going second and sadly the new support only exacerbates this by including even more monsters like x3 Pookuery and x2 Malwisp and Haunted Rock which is a brick.

Yeah, they did a similar thing to labrynth too. Goes from control deck to combo-ish. I’m also a big fan of slow grind game with actual thinking and predicting, but this aspect of the game keeps fading away. The new support gives Altergeist more combo potential, which isn’t bad tbh, but there are some cards that are just absolute bricks. Maybe they should add sth to switch them with, especially Haunted Rock, this card is so annoyingly bad🥶

I ran into this deck earlier today running almiraj instead of link kuriboh and the protection effect actually came in Clutch for the opponent

This deck isn’t tier 1, but it’s still so fun to play. When it goes off, it goes OFF. I’ve been playing Altergeist for more than a year!

Kinda weird yeah considering that its probably german in origin and in german it would roughly translate to old ghosts alter (alt = old, alter =old/older) and (geist = ghost)

I think Cyberse fits them best especially because they came out of Vrains. I'm not complaining since you can play Secret Village.

Because they are hacker themed and in the internet hackers are called wizards, hence why altergeist are spellcasters

You can run skill drain with this deck because protocol makes them immune to it. Which is nasty. I know it’s not a unpopular card for reasons so it’s understandable not to run it
