It was released on November 16, 1991, but stayed in the top 40 for 8 weeks - so although it was released in '91, it was still around in early '92.

Altern 8 is two blokes from Stafford, this track samples 'Move My Body' by 2 House People Featuring Cynthia M who is a black women so maybe that was the reason? Mark Archer is on Twitter you could ask him but at the end of the day it's two blokes from Stafford who rock and everything else is incidental.

Yeah but the white girl who done the first totp performance wasnt a singer (she was a dancer) and Mark wasnt happy with it so he got this black girl to do their second video, who was a backing singer for Lisa Stansfield On the original record its a sample of a man singing the lyric

Well ... I did not really pay attention to the singer back in those days . I did a lot of driving in the mid 90's .... The drum , base acoustics, rhythm ... and arriving to work geared up to work , was my interest. TODAY is the the very 1st time I see the singer ..... It's like .... she is ... how to say .... A darker hue of skin ( than me) ? ... perhaps, now I know why Activ8 , were not so prominent on TV in the early 1990's

So what about Black Box then? Ride on Time was #1 for 6 weeks in 1989! Or how about Snap? Rhythm is a Dancer was also #1 for 6 weeks in 1992! Or 2 Unlimited with EIGHT UK Top 10s between 91 and 94 including No Limit which spent 5 weeks at #1 in 92? Altern-8 {Activ-8 was the song title} were "not so prominent" because they weren't a POP BAND! They were {for the time} Hardcore Rave! This was just after The Prodigy made Hardcore Popular! Their debut song "Charly" made #3 a couple months prior to Activ-8 also making #3 for Altern-8. The Prodigy of course went on to change their sound with Music For the Jilted Generation {No Good Start the Dance, Voodoo People, Poison} and again with Fat of the Land {Firestarter, Breathe} while Altern-8 vanished after Full on Mask Hysteria. The early 90s was the era of Rave - By the mid 90s this sound had disappeared from the mainstream!
