Fun fact: the reason the USA used nukes instead of invading Japan was to prevent a possible catastrophic loss of life. Most people may see the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki as unethical but that is far from true.

It's pretty good. But realistically japan wouldn't have lasted nearly as long. And they'd probably have surrendered anyways because the reason they surrendered in our timeline is because they didn't want soviet occupation. But that's boring and wouldn't make for an interesting scenario. What would be interesting is what would follow. The allies would feel bitter because the Soviets are occupying japan even though they barely fought them. This would make intervention in china more severe. Which would probably lead to the fall of the CCP. What's more, due to the lack of nukes in this world WW3 would probably spark too. But I don't think it'd be because of allied intervention in China because both the allies and soviets were severely damaged from WW2. All in all the allies would be more aggressive due to the Soviets stealing parts of japan and also because of the lack of nukes

If the US disegregated their military by 1940s and considered Japan-First instead of Germany-First in this war, the US manpower would have been more effective (even if there would be any racial issue like in Vietnam, but later would getting along and kickass together) and Operation Downfall would have been carried out. US WASTED half of their manpower in Europe and a lot in Africa. US should have stayed out from Europe and just at least supplied a lot of logistic oil and weaponary for Western Front without sending troops, while US overall manpower troops just need to focus on Pacific Front!!

USSR planned to occupied the whole East Asia mainland from Japan, specifically include China & Korea after their success in Manchuria. If USSR succeed on this one, I'm sure Korea won't be divided between North & South. Well, if USSR have quickly done their job in invading East Asia mainland before Western Allies fully done in Japan, USSR might join the invasion on Japan too, by attacking through the North side (Hokkaido) as it shown in this video, but as I must say USSR need to pass through China & Korea first that was still heavily defended by a large amount remaining left of Japanese Army and let alone their puppet Korean who that was forced to, by IJA, in defending Japan's occupied-territory in East Asia. If Western allies manage to invade all of the land states of japan, including Hokkaido before Soviet make their move into Japan, then Japan would belong to Western allies while the mainland Eastern Asia that were Japanese occupied territory would be theirs
